Incheon To Host Museum and Art Gallery Festival in Bupyeong
The 17th Museum and Art Gallery Festival will be held on June 13 at the outdoor plaza of the Bupyeong History Museum and the adjacent museum park.
Now in its 17th year, the festival is a major public-private cultural event featuring 11 public and private museums and art museums across the city, each showcasing its own distinctive cultural content.
This year's festival will move beyond traditional viewing experiences by offering hands-on, interactive programs designed to encourage direct participation by visitors.
Customized activity kits reflecting the unique identity of participating institutions will also be available, providing a variety of experiences for families visiting the event during the weekend.
Incheon Opens Applications for ‘i+ Connection’ Matchmaking Program
Incheon Metropolitan City and the Gyeyang-gu Family Center are recruiting participants for the first and second rounds of the 2026 “i+ Connection” program through July 2.
The match-making program is designed to provide unmarried young adults in Incheon with opportunities to meet naturally, while helping foster a marriage-friendly social environment.
Created for young people who have limited opportunities to form new relationships due to busy lifestyles, the Incheon-style matchmaking initiative will be held five times this year and accommodate a total of 500 participants.
The program includes relationship coaching, chances for one-on-one conversations, couple games and dinner events aimed at encouraging meaningful interaction and healthy relationships among participants.
Incheon–Deokjeok Car Ferry Faces Service Suspension Next Year
A car ferry operating between Incheon Port and Deokjeok Island is expected to suspend service next year due to mounting financial difficulties.
The Incheon Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries said the ferry’s operator, Korea Express Ferry, recently submitted a notice of intention to close its coastal passenger transport business on the Incheon–Deokjeok route.
According to the notice, the 903-ton car ferry Korea Express on the Incheon-Deokjeok route, will operate only through the end of this year, with service set to end next year.
The company cited worsening financial conditions caused by accumulated operating losses as the reason for its decision to surrender the route license.
Incheon Releases 1.7 Million Juvenile Blue Crabs Into Coastal Waters
The Incheon Fisheries Resources Research Institute has released 1.7 million juvenile blue crabs into waters off Jung-gu’s Eulwang-ri and Ganghwa-gun’s Maeum-ri to help replenish marine resources and support sustainable fisheries.
The release took place over two days, with 700,000 crabs released near Eulwang-ri on June 9 and1 million near Maeum-ri on June 10.
The juvenile crabs hatched in mid-May and were certified disease-free and excellent specimens through inspections conducted by an authorized aquatic animal health agency. Each measured more than one centimeter in body length.
Incheon Waterworks Implements Temporary Bi-Monthly Meter Readings
The Incheon Waterworks Headquarters will introduce a temporary bi-monthly meter reading system from July through August to protect field inspectors from extreme heat and prevent heat-related illnesses.
The measure applies to general water consumers using less than 200 cubic meters of water per month, and the results will be reflected in water bills issued in August and September.
During the two-month period, eligible consumers will be billed once using an estimated consumption method.
Any difference between estimated and actual usage will be automatically adjusted when an on-site meter reading is conducted the following month.
Incheon Holds Science and Technology Innovation Network Policy Council
Incheon Metropolitan City has convened the Incheon Science and Technology Innovation Network (i-connect) Policy Council to strengthen the region's science and technology cooperation ecosystem.
The council was organized to enhance collaboration among institutions participating in the innovation network, which was launched last year, and to expand connections between science, technology and science culture.
Representatives from Incheon, 14 partner organizations that have signed MOUs, the Incheon Science Culture Hub Center, and the Incheon Children's Science Museum attended the meeting.
Participants discussed various measures to promote regional science and technology development through stronger institutional cooperation.
