Incheon to Expand Traffic Safety Signals at 92 School Zones
Incheon Metropolitan City will install additional traffic safety facilities at 92 intersections within school zones to create a safer environment for children commuting to and from school.
By the end of this year, the city plans to invest 2.6 billion won to install yellow traffic signals, warning lights, in-road pedestrian signal lights, and red countdown timers at the selected intersections.
The locations focus on areas with heavy pedestrian traffic by children and include areas around Sorae Elementary School, Yonghyeon Elementary School, and Samsan Elementary School.
They were selected based on surveys conducted with district governments, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency, and other relevant organizations.
Since the enactment of the so-called "Min-sik Law" in 2020, which mandates traffic safety facilities in school zones, the city has upgraded traffic signal systems at 496 school zones through last year.
Incheon to Provide 2.5 Billion Won in Low-Interest Loans for Small Businesses
Incheon Metropolitan City will launch its Small & Medium Enterprise Policy Loan Program for the 2nd half of 2026 on July 13 to help stabilize local small businesses.
The program is designed to ease the financial burden on small business owners facing economic challenges and changing business conditions by providing funding for operating expenses and store facility improvements.
A total of 5 billion won has been allocated for the program this year. Following 2.5 billion won in loans provided during the first half, another 2.5 billion won will be made available in the second half.
Incheon Recruits Youth Supporters for 2026 INCHINA Forum
Incheon Metropolitan City is recruiting INCHINA Forum Youth Supporters who will promote the upcoming INCHINA Forum International Conference 2026 both online and offline ahead of its opening on Sept. 8.
This year’s recruit will be the seventh group of youth supporters, and it is open to young people with an interest in Korea-China exchanges and the planning and promotion of international academic conferences.
Applications will be accepted from July 13 to 24, with 20 participants to be selected. Those chosen after review will serve for about seven weeks, from Aug. 3 to Sept. 17.
Beyond promoting the event, this year's supporters will create and share original content that reinterprets Incheon's growth in the fields of artificial intelligence, biotechnology, culture, and energy from a young generation's perspective.
Incheon Holds Ceremony Marking 3rd North Korean Defectors’ Day
Incheon Metropolitan City has successfully held a ceremony to commemorate the third North Korean Defectors' Day on July 11 at the Incheon Arts Center.
Hosted by the Incheon Unification Plus Center, the event was organized to celebrate North Korean Defectors’ Day, a national observance on July 14, promote pride among North Korean defectors, and foster a more inclusive community.
The city said it will continue supporting the stable settlement of North Korean defectors while expanding cultural and exchange programs that encourage coexistence and social inclusion.
Incheon Library to Offer Humanities Program for Middle-Aged Adults
The Incheon Library announced that it will offer a classic humanities program for middle-aged adults titled "The Afternoon of Life: Seeking Direction Through the Classics."
The program was selected as part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Wisdom School 2026 initiative, jointly organized by the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service and the Korean Library Association.
Designed as an advanced humanities course that explores life's wisdom and insight, the program will be taught by Koo Gyo-hyun, a research professor at Yonsei University, over 13 sessions from Aug. 3 to Nov. 9.
The course is intended to help middle-aged participants reflect on their lives and consider the direction they wish to take in the future.
