Incheon conducts daily monitoring on elderly residents at risk from heatwaves
The Incheon Metropolitan Government says it has strengthened safety measures to protect vulnerable senior citizens as extreme heat continues across the region.
The city has provided 5,848 low-income seniors with cooling supplies, including electric fans, cooling mats, cooling neck wraps, cooling blankets, and special meal packages featuring samgyetang, or ginseng chicken soup.
It has also identified 2,837 seniors at high risk from heatwaves, including those with limited mobility, chronic illnesses, or poor housing conditions, and placed them under intensive monitoring by community care workers.
Safety checks, which were previously conducted two to three times a week, are now conducted daily in line with the issuance of heatwave advisories or warnings, with staff carrying out phone calls and in-person visits.
Korea Coast Guard to deploy patrol drones at local substations for the first time
The Korea Coast Guard will deploy patrol drones to local coast guard stations for the first time to strengthen coastal safety.
Next month, five drones will be distributed to Korea Coast Guard substations, including two in Incheon and one each in Taean, Pyeongtaek, and Boryeong.
While drones and unmanned aircraft have previously been used on Coast Guard patrol vessels for wide-area surveillance, this marks the first official deployment of patrol drones at local coastal substations.
The Coast Guard expects patrol drones to help prevent isolation or falling accidents by issuing real-time warning broadcasts when they detect people at risk, such as mudflat harvesters or anglers on breakwaters, particularly at night.
Incheon digitizes entire water service installation process
Incheon Waterworks Headquarters has launched a new integrated management system that digitizes the entire water service installation process.
The system manages every stage of a water service project, from application and site inspection to design, approval, construction, and completion, through a single digital platform.
Previously, each local office handled the process differently, resulting in inconsistent administration, while paper-based records made it time-consuming to retrieve past project information and respond to public inquiries.
The headquarters plans to continue expanding digital integration by converting paper records into electronic files and linking related systems to further improve efficiency and public services.
Next-generation overseas Korean entrepreneurs gather in Incheon to build global networks
The Incheon Metropolitan Government says the 24th Next Generation Global Startup & Trade School (Motherland Visit Program) for 2026 will be held at Incheon National University’s Songdo Campus from August 3rd through 8th.
The six-day program invites young overseas Koreans from around the world to Korea to foster future global business leaders while strengthening their Korean heritage and identity.
A total of 94 participants are taking part, including 73 young overseas Koreans from 24 countries and 21 university and graduate students from Korea.
Participants will attend lectures by invited speakers, team discussions and presentations, industrial site visits, talks by successful Incheon entrepreneurs, and cultural and historical tours of the city.
TV personality Daniel Lindemann returns to his musical roots with jazz concert
The Incheon Culture & Arts Center will present "Jazz at Noon" by the Daniel Lindemann Quintet on August 19th at 2 p.m. in its small concert hall.
Daniel Lindemann, a television personality and pianist from Bonn, Germany, has studied the organ and piano since childhood, building a lifelong foundation in music.
He has continued his musical career by forming the Daniel Lindemann Quintet with longtime collaborators and releasing the album On Air.
Although best known to the public for his television appearances and thoughtful commentary, Lindemann will showcase another side of himself as a jazz pianist during this performance.
