Incheon City Implements Special Transportation Measures for Chuseok Travelers!
Incheon Metropolitan City has announced that it will implement special transportation measures to provide convenient and safe transportation for people visiting their hometowns during the Chuseok holiday period.
The city has designated a six-day period from September 13th to September 18th as the 'Chuseok Special Transportation Period'. During this time, they will support safe and comfortable travel for citizens through pre-inspections of transport vehicles, increased capacity for express buses, coastal passenger ships, and subways, and operation of a special transportation countermeasure situation room.
It is expected that an average of about 389,949 people per day will use public transportation in the Incheon area during this year's Chuseok holiday period. In response, the city plans to strengthen transportation capacity for each mode of transport in cooperation with relevant agencies.
2024 Asia Rugby Sevens Series First Tournament to be Held in Incheon
Incheon Metropolitan City has announced that the '2024 Asia Rugby Sevens Series First Tournament' will be held at the Namdong Asiad Rugby Stadium for two days from September 7th to 8th.
The Asia Rugby Sevens Series is the top-tier seven-a-side rugby tournament in the Asian region, held three times a year since 2009. Each team participates with seven players, playing thrilling matches of seven minutes per half.
A total of 270 players from 16 teams representing 9 countries including South Korea, Kazakhstan, Japan, China, Hong Kong, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand will participate in a league format. During the tournament, various on-site events will be operated for citizens to enjoy the international competition, such as rugby ball passing experiences and photo missions.
"Incheon Inner Port Imagination+ Drawing Contest" to be Held
Incheon Metropolitan City will host the 'Incheon Inner Port Imagination+ Drawing Contest' on October 5th at the 1883 Gaehangjang of Inner Port Piers 1 and 8.
This event is the final schedule of the '1883 Gaehangjang Salon Citizen Participation Season Program' that has been ongoing from 2023 to this year to increase citizen interest in the Gaehangjang and the inner port area. It's a drawing contest held at the now-public Inner Port Piers 1 and 8, with themes such as 'The Inner Port Landscape I Dream Of'.
The event is open to elementary school students within Incheon city, with online registration for the first 100 applicants. If the number of applicants is less than 100, on-site registration will also be possible.
Participation is free of charge.
Incheon City Holds Commemoration Week for 74th Anniversary of Incheon Landing Operation
The commemoration week for the 74th anniversary of the Incheon Landing Operation will be held throughout Incheon from the 6th to the 12th. This year's event is set to be the largest-scale celebration to date.
Incheon Metropolitan City stated, "This year's event focuses not only on revisiting the historical value of the Incheon Landing Operation but also on establishing Incheon as a 'global festival venue for peace and harmony.' In particular, it aims to build a framework for the commemorative event to be held as an international event starting next year."
Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, based on the shared understanding of the value of the Incheon Landing Operation, plans to declare Incheon's joining of the 'International Cities of Peace' at the 74th anniversary commemoration ceremony of the Incheon Landing Operation on the 11th. The International Cities of Peace initiative aims to establish a culture of peace in local communities and develop peace policies and cultures through mutual cooperation among member countries.
