Key 15 Contributors to Incheon Development Selected for the 46th Citizen Award
Incheon announced that it has selected 15 recipients for the 46th Citizen Award, honoring citizen who have contributed to the development of the local community in celebration of the 60th Citizen’s Day.
The Citizen Award, established in November 1978, is Incheon’s most prestigious honor, now in its 46th year. It is awarded to citizens who have made significant contributions to community development and the promotion of a positive social atmosphere across 13 categories in four sectors: Social Contribution, Filial Piety, Industrial Development, and Educational Advancement.
From July 1st to August 20th, a call for nominations was held, resulting in a total of 34 candidates. After a review by the Citizen Award Selection Committee, composed of 15 members including city councilors, elders, academics, and leaders of civic organizations, the final 15 award recipients were selected. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 12th during the 60th Citizen’s Day celebration.
Incheon Launches Full-Scale Promotion for “2025-2026 Year of Overseas Korean Exchange and Visits”
Incheon will participate in the “2024 World Presidents of Association of Overseas Korean Residents ” and the “18th World Korean Day Celebration” held at the Lotte Hotel World in Jamsil, Seoul, on October 2nd and 3rd, and will operate a promotional booth to announce the “2025-2026 Year of Overseas Korean Exchange and Visits in Incheon”.
An Incheon City official stated that they hope this event to provide an opportunity promoting Incheon to overseas Koreans visiting their homeland and to showcase the charm of Incheon as a city friendly to overseas Koreans.
Incheon Launches Traditional Culture Courses in the Second Half of 2024
Incheon announced that it will operate “Traditional On (溫, On) and Traditional Culture Learning Center” in the second half of 2024 to share the value of intangible cultural heritage with its citizens.
The “Traditional Culture Learning Center” will be operated for eight weeks, from October 5th to December 7th, at the Incheon Intangible Cultural Heritage Training Center, where inheritors of Incheon’s intangible heritage will directly teach our traditional culture.
Incheon residents who wish to enroll can apply through the Incheon City Hall online reservation system or by visiting the training center from October 7th to October 12th. The course is free of charge.

Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority Launches Citizen Participation Living Lab for IFEZ Smart City
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority recently announced that it has begun full-scale demonstrations of the “IFEZ Smart City Citizen Participation Living Lab” project at Incheon Startup Park.
The “IFEZ Smart City Citizen Participation Living Lab” project, launched in 2023, is divided into two categories: the “Urban Problem Solving” type, which identifies urban issues experienced by citizens through a participation group, and the “Demonstration Support Living Lab,” where citizens actively participate in testing and improving innovative technologies and services from companies.
An IFEZ official stated that through this Living Lab operation, they aim to establish a foundation for IFEZ to develop into a smart city demonstration platform.
