‘Tradition Meets Modernity’ – Colorful Hanbok Event in Incheon
In celebration of Hanbok Day on October 21, Incheon will host the “2024 Hanbok Love Citizens’ Festival” on October 19 at City Hall. This event, held annually since 2021, aims to promote the cultural value of hanbok, a national intangible heritage. The festival will feature a hanbok fashion show, traditional performances, exhibitions, and interactive activities. Incheon officials hope the event will contribute to making hanbok a popular, everyday cultural icon.
Special Exhibition for Calligrapher Geomyeo Yoo Hee-kang at Jemulpo Club
Incheon will honor the works of renowned local calligrapher Geomyeo Yoo Hee-kang with a special exhibition at the historic Jemulpo Club from September 27 to November 30. The exhibition, titled Cutting Through the World with a Brush, will showcase 33 pieces that reflect Yoo’s groundbreaking approach to calligraphy. The event aims to inspire local pride and artistic appreciation among Incheon residents.
Korean Immigration Museum Hosts Special Exhibition on Goryeo Theater
To commemorate the establishment of the Overseas Koreans Agency in Incheon and the 160th anniversary of the Goryeo people’s migration, the Korean Immigration Museum is holding a special exhibition on the Goryeo Theater. The exhibition, Shine, Goryeo Theater, explores the history of the Goryeo Theater, which has provided comfort to the Goryeo community throughout its history. The exhibition runs until February 23, 2024, and is open to the public free of charge.
Incheon Education Office Plans to Open Education Museum by 2029
The Incheon Education Office is planning to open the “Incheon Education Museum” by 2029 with a budget of 10.3 billion KRW. The museum will showcase the history of Incheon’s education from the Goryeo and Joseon eras to the modern day, featuring textbooks, graduation albums, and educational materials.
