Incheon City to Strengthen Hygiene Management of Livestock Products for Lunar New Year

The Incheon Metropolitan Health and Environment Research Institute has announced comprehensive measures to ensure the hygienic supply of meat products in preparation for the Lunar New Year. These include early opening hours for slaughterhouses and enhanced safety inspections.

From January 6 to January 20, 2025, the opening hours of slaughterhouses will be adjusted to start at 7 AM, one hour earlier than usual, excluding Fridays.

Health inspectors from the institute will be on-site to conduct regular hygiene checks before and during operations. Their aim is to remove any potential contamination factors, ensuring a hygienic slaughtering process

Optimistic 2025! Eased Fishing Regulations Bring Good News

The Incheon Metropolitan City has announced a positive change for the fishing community. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' regulation easing project has approved an adjustment to the closed season for Spanish mackerel. Starting in 2025, the closed season for Spanish mackerel in Incheon waters will be trial-adjusted from the current May 1 to May 31 to April 10 to May 10.

Since Spanish mackerel was designated as a closed season species under the revised Fisheries Resources Management Act on January 1, 2021, the prime mackerel fishing season in Incheon waters, which is around May, has overlapped with the closed season. This overlap has made Spanish mackerel fishing difficult for the past four years.

The city expects this adjustment to boost the local economy by more than 1 billion won annually

The Incheon Metropolitan City has made an announcement that two of its emergency medical centers have achieved the highest national ratings in the '2024 Emergency Medical Institution Evaluation' conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

This nationwide evaluation covered 408 emergency medical institutions, including 44 regional and pediatric emergency centers, 136 regional emergency medical centers, and 228 local emergency medical institutions. Incheon had 21 institutions evaluated: 2 regional and pediatric emergency centers, 9 regional emergency medical centers, and 10 local emergency medical institutions.

The city emphasizes that this top ranking is attributed to the unwavering dedication and continuous efforts of local medical institutions. Building on this achievement, Incheon plans to provide further policy and financial support to enhance the emergency medical system and strengthen the healthcare safety net for its residents.

Incheon Announces Updates to '2040 Urban Master Plan'
