Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority Conducts Gas Safety Inspections Ahead of Lunar New Year
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) announced that from January 14 to 24, it will conduct joint gas safety inspections with city gas suppliers in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday.
The inspections will target 29 multi-use facilities, including large supermarkets, expected to see increased foot traffic during the holiday. Key checks include:
• Gas leak detection
• Proper operation of gas shut-off devices
• Identification of hazardous conditions or signs of danger
• Compliance with legal safety inspections
Minor issues will be addressed immediately, while serious hazards, such as gas leaks posing an explosion risk, will result in swift administrative action, including usage restrictions or bans in accordance with safety regulations.
Incheon City to Maintain Childcare Services During Lunar New Year Holiday
Incheon Metropolitan City will continue operating its Childcare Service during the Lunar New Year holiday from January 28 to 30 to assist dual-income and single-parent families facing childcare challenges.
The service, which supports children under the age of 12, sends trained caregivers to homes experiencing childcare gaps due to parental work obligations.
Eligible families receive financial support based on income levels. During this holiday period, the additional 50% holiday service charge will be waived to reduce user costs.
A city official said, “We are committed to minimizing care gaps during the holiday and creating an environment where parents can balance work and family with peace of mind.”
Stay Safe This Lunar New Year: Incheon Encourages Flu and COVID-19 Vaccinations
In response to rising influenza and COVID-19 cases, Incheon Metropolitan City urges residents to get vaccinated and follow respiratory infection prevention guidelines ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The city highlighted the increased risk of infection due to holiday travel and gatherings, recommending vaccinations two weeks before the holiday to allow time for antibodies to develop.
The influenza vaccine is closely matched to current strains, offering effective protection. Similarly, the COVID-19 vaccine has been shown to build immunity against prevalent variants, helping prevent infection.
Art Meets Collaboration at Incheon Art Platform Exhibition
The Incheon Art Platform is hosting the special exhibition “The Act of Collaboration” until Sunday, February 2.
To accommodate holiday visitors, the exhibition will remain open on January 28 and 30, closing only on January 29 (Lunar New Year’s Day).
Marking its 15th anniversary, the platform reflects on its journey as a creative space supporting artists across various disciplines since 2009. The exhibition reimagines these achievements through the theme of collaboration.
A total of 11 artist teams are featured, including 10 teams composed of alumni from the platform’s residency program.
