Incheon to Abolish Income Criteria for Student Loan Interest Support
Incheon City is expected to abolish the income criteria for selecting recipients of student loan interest support starting in the second half of this year.
According to the Incheon City Council on March 26, the Administrative and Safety Committee of the council passed an amendment to the student loan interest support ordinance the day before.
The amendment removes the income threshold to expand the number of eligible applicants and allows students to receive student loan interest support if they or one of their parents has been a resident of Incheon for at least one year.
With the abolition of the income criteria, the number of students eligible for student loan interest support in Incheon is expected to increase by about 5,000, from 12,000 to 17,000.
Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority to Evaluate the Performance of the Korea Stanford Center
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) will conduct a study to evaluate the performance of the Korea Stanford Center located in Songdo International City.
IFEZ plans to carry out a feasibility study with a total project budget of 37 million won in connection with providing additional government subsidies to the Korea Stanford Center.
The evaluation will assess the center’s performance against its operational plan, financial stability, research achievements, external collaborations, and contributions to the local community.
The Korea Stanford Center is a research institute affiliated with Stanford University in the U.S. It opened in June 2021 at the Incheon Global Campus (IGC) in Songdo and focuses on research in the field of smart cities.
Incheon Port Authority Attracts Cargo and Routes in Shanghai
The Incheon Port Authority (IPA) conducted cargo and route procurement activities targeting international shipping lines and logistics companies in Shanghai, China.
IPA, in collaboration with four container terminal operators at Incheon Port, organized a joint cargo procurement team and invited Shanghai-based shipping officials to a briefing session on the logistics environment at Incheon Port.
The briefing session covered Incheon Port’s cargo volume and container routes, the operational status of each terminal, port infrastructure development plans, used car export conditions, and incentive programs.
An official from Incheon Port Authority stated, "We hope to increase cargo volume by activating new services to China and Southeast Asia, based on Incheon Port."
Incheon Jung-gu Recognized as 'Excellent Organization' in Active Administration for the Second Consecutive Year
Jung-gu, Incheon has been selected as an ‘Excellent Organization’ for the second consecutive year in the 'Comprehensive Evaluation of Active Local Government Administration' organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The evaluation was conducted across 243 local governments nationwide and divided into 20 indicators across four categories.
Jung-gu received positive evaluations in 15 of these indicators, including the performance of active administration by the head of the organization and efforts to improve the system.
