Incheon to Launch Island Community Revitalization Camp in June
Incheon Metropolitan City, in partnership with the Incheon Tourism Organization, will officially launch the 2025 Incheon Island Community Revitalization Camp starting in June to promote sustainable development and strengthen island communities.
Organized by the Incheon Island Development Support Center, the camp is part of an ESG social contribution program that addresses key island issues such as depopulation and marine waste. A total of 11 organizations will take part.
Key activities include helping with local labor needs, cleaning up marine waste, painting village murals, home repairs, and other exchange programs with residents, as well as experiences centered on local specialties—customized to reflect each island’s unique character.
6th Incheon International Ocean Forum to Be Held on July 3–4 in Songdo
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that the 6th Incheon International Ocean Forum, the largest maritime knowledge forum in the capital region, will take place from July 3 to 4 at Songdo Convensia.
Under the theme “A Turbulent Global Economy, a Resurgent Marine Industry,” the forum will offer in-depth discussions on global issues related to the maritime industry, marine environment, and ocean technologies.
The event will focus on the strategic value of the oceans and explore the paradigm shift toward a maritime-centered future, proposing practical directions for international cooperation and sustainable development.
Yeongjong Sky Library Partners with Boramae Children’s Center to Close Reading Gap
Yeongjong Sky Library, a branch of Incheon’s Michuhol Library, announced that it has been selected for the 2025 “Reading with Libraries” program led by the National Library for Children and Young Adults. From May 13 to August 26, the library will run a reading program for children at the Incheon Boramae Children’s Center.
The initiative aims to improve access to books and foster reading habits among children with limited access to library resources, offering reading-based cultural programs tailored to their needs.
Co-hosted by Yeongjong Sky Library and Boramae Center, the program will run for 15 weekly sessions through late August, targeting early elementary school children currently staying at the center.
Incheon Arts Center to Present Trial Performance of Yi Su-il and Shim Sun-ae in Small Theater
To celebrate the reopening of its small theater, the Incheon Arts Center will host a special preview performance of the new music drama Yi Su-il and Shim Sun-ae, presented by the Incheon Municipal Theater Company, on Saturday, May 24.
The event is a trial run to showcase the newly renovated venue to the public and to test its acoustics and performance systems ahead of full-scale operation.
Known as a tearjerking drama that evokes deep emotions, the performance will resonate with older audiences while offering a fresh and novel experience to the younger MZ generation.
Incheon Police Launch 24-Hour Election Security Command Center Ahead of Presidential Election
The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced the launch of a 24-hour integrated election security command center in preparation for the 21st presidential election.
Command centers have been set up at the main agency and all 10 district police stations and will operate continuously from the start of the campaign period until the end of ballot counting on June 4th.
The centers will oversee all election-related security operations, including managing street campaigns, ballot transport, and polling station security. On election day, the agency plans to implement its highest emergency alert level, “Level A,” starting at 6 a.m.
Incheon Office of Education Opens Parent Registration for High School Credit System Workshop
To help parents support their children’s academic planning under the high school credit system, the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education will hold a training session for parents on June 16th.
The session will provide insights on university admissions, subject selection strategies, and an overview of high school curricula to help parents assist with student career planning.
Parents can register online until May 22nd.
Incheon Office of Education Publishes Guide to 2022 Revised Curriculum
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has released a guidebook on the 2022 Revised National Curriculum, which will be applied to first-year high school students beginning in 2025.
The guide includes explanations of required and elective subjects, curriculum structuring methods, subject unit calculations, and an overview of the 2028 university admissions process.
It also provides instructions on how to view curriculum organization charts for each high school in Incheon, supporting students, parents, and teachers in personalized subject selection and academic planning. The guide is available on the office’s website and as an e-book.
IFEZ Conducts Safety Inspection at IGC Dormitory Construction Site
IFEZ, in cooperation with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), has conducted a joint safety inspection at the IGC dormitory construction site.
The dormitory project, directly commissioned by IFEZ, began construction in February this year and aims for completion in the first quarter of 2027.
IFEZ plans to conduct similar joint inspections with KOSHA at 15 construction sites across the Incheon Free Economic Zone by the end of this month.
