AI Envisions Incheon’s Future: Citizen Contest Now Open
Incheon Metropolitan City, in collaboration with Incheon Port Authority and Incheon Urban Corporation, has announced a citizen-participation contest titled “2025 Incheon Future with AI.”
The contest invites citizens to imagine and visualize the future of Incheon’s Inner Port Piers 1 and 8 using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. It aims to raise public interest in urban development and enhance Incheon’s brand value through city marketing.
Ideas and visions submitted by citizens will also be considered as valuable resources for future policy development.
Weekend Course Added to Incheon Integrated Resort Talent Training Program
Incheon Metropolitan City has announced a special weekend session of the 2025 Incheon Integrated Resort Talent Training Program, to be held every weekend from May 31 to June 22.
This program was added in response to demand from individuals who were unable to attend weekday classes due to work schedules. It supplements the regular weekday curriculum.
Those interested in the weekend course can apply online or via email by 6 p.m. on May 28.
Incheon to Host “i Design Seminar: K-Content” on May 22
Incheon Metropolitan City will hold the “i Design Seminar: K-Content” on May 22 at George Mason University Korea, located in the Incheon Global Campus.
Aligned with the Korean government’s strategy to become one of the top four global powers in K-content, Incheon is planning to establish a “K-CON LAND” within its Free Economic Zone and is receiving Letters of Intent (LOIs) from global content firms.
The seminar will explore Incheon’s path forward as a global hub for cultural content.
Shop Fruits and Vegetables in One Visit at Namchon Wholesale Market
To enhance customer convenience and activate the wholesale market, the Namchon Agricultural Products Wholesale Market Management Office has announced a time change for fruit auctions. Starting immediately, fruit auctions will begin at 3 a.m., one hour earlier than before.
The start time for fruit auctions has been moved from 4 a.m. to 3 a.m., while vegetable auctions will continue to begin at 2 a.m. as before.
This change aims to reduce the 2–3 hour gap between fruit and vegetable auctions to under an hour, allowing bulk buyers to purchase both categories during a single visit.
Incheon Port Authority Signs Sister Port MOU with Port of Los Angeles
The Incheon Port Authority (IPA) announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Port of Los Angeles during a recent visit to the United States, establishing a sister port relationship.
Under this agreement, the two ports will cooperate in areas such as attracting refrigerated cargo, exchanging logistics data and technology, and developing port infrastructure.
IPA plans to strengthen ties with the Port of Los Angeles to enhance the stability of trans-Pacific shipping routes and actively attract high-value cargo and new freight volume.
Incheon Wins Two Gold Medals in Pre-Events for National Youth Sports Festival
At the track and field pre-events of the 54th National Youth Sports Festival, the Incheon team won two gold medals and two bronze medals.
In the U-15 mixed 1,600-meter relay final held on May 17–18 at Gimhae Stadium in Gyeongnam, the Incheon team won its first gold medal with a time of 3 minutes 40.66 seconds.
With these early victories, the Incheon delegation is now preparing to compete in the main events of the festival, which will take place across Gyeongnam from May 24 to 27.
Ganghwa Students Participate in Smart Marine Farming Camp at University
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it will operate a “Smart Marine Farm Camp” for middle and high school students in Ganghwa, as part of the Ganghwa Education Development Special Zone project.
The camp will run from May to December at Ghent University Global Campus and aims to train future talent by combining marine bioresources and advanced science technologies.
Participants will take part in various programs, including algae and microalgae cultivation experiments, hands-on training with smart sensors for automated control systems, and data-driven environmental monitoring projects.
Michuhol District Holds Anti-Smoking Education for Cafes and Snack Shops
The Michuhol District Health Center conducted a no-smoking education session for snack shop and cafe owners at the district office’s main conference room.
The session aimed to create a healthier smoke-free environment and protect the health of both workers and customers.
Topics included regulations on no-smoking signs, standards for setting up designated smoking areas, and common violations. The session also covered the health effects of smoking and how quitting smoking can bring about positive changes in society.
