Incheon City Requests 320 Billion Won in National Funding for 10 Key Projects
Incheon Metropolitan City requested 320 billion won in national funding for ten key projects during the Local Finance Council meeting hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance on May 21 at the National Sejong Library.
At the meeting, the city proposed 17.4 billion won in compensation for damage caused by North Korean propaganda broadcasts, 80 billion won for the construction of the Incheon KTX line, 2.1 billion won for the Incheon–Seoul Underground Expressway project, 160.5 billion won for the extension of Seoul Subway Line 7 to Cheongna, and 36 billion won for the improvement of congested roads from Gongdan Bridge to Seoincheon IC.
Having secured more than 6 trillion won in national funding for three consecutive years, the city is stepping up its efforts to exceed that amount again in the current fiscal year.
Incheon City and Incheon TP to Host Job Fair for Root Industry Companies on May 29
Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon Techno Park (Incheon TP), in cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Gyeyang-gu, will host the first Root Industry Job Fair of 2025 on May 29 at Karis Hotel in Jakjeon-dong, Gyeyang-gu.
Root industry companies are businesses engaged in essential manufacturing processes such as welding, mold production, surface treatment, injection molding, pressing, and precision forming—considered the foundation of industrial production.
The event will feature 15 Incheon-based root industry companies offering tailored job consultations and on-site interviews at individual company booths.
Incheon City to Conduct ‘Safety Korea Drill’ to Strengthen Disaster Response Capabilities
Incheon City will conduct the ‘Safety Korea Drill’ on May 28 to enhance its initial disaster response capabilities and assess the roles and responsibilities of each participating agency in the event of a large-scale emergency.
The drill will be a large-scale joint public-private exercise involving more than 300 participants from 19 organizations, including Incheon City. It will include both field exercises and discussion-based sessions.
The drill will be open to the public starting at 1:30 p.m. in front of Exit 4 of Incheon National University Station in Songdo. The city has asked for citizens’ understanding and cooperation, as some roads near Incheon Startup Park may be temporarily closed due to the event.
Seo-gu in Incheon Holds Sweet Potato Planting Event with KOMIPO and Volunteer Association
Seo-gu in Incheon held a sweet potato planting event in collaboration with the Incheon Branch of Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO) and the Incheon Volunteer Association. The event took place in a 1,320-square-meter garden provided by the Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation.
Around 30 members from the Incheon Volunteer Association and KOMIPO volunteers participated in the event.
The sweet potatoes will be harvested in October and distributed to low-income households in the local community.
Dong-gu in Incheon Holds ‘Hwasu Garden Village Beautification’ Project with HD Hyundai Infracore
Dong-gu in Incheon carried out the ‘Hwasu Garden Village Beautification’ project on May 20 in the Hwasu 2-dong area, in cooperation with HD Hyundai Infracore and the Hwasu Garden Village Social Cooperative.
The ‘Senior Gardeners’ program is a local job initiative run by the Dong-gu Senior Human Resources Development Center, in which senior citizens who have completed specialized training in plant care manage green spaces in public facilities.
A Dong-gu official stated, “We will continue to expand social contribution programs that encourage active participation from local residents.”
Ganghwa-gun in Incheon Opens Applications for 2025 First Semester University Tuition Support
Ganghwa-gun in Incheon is accepting applications for university tuition support for the first semester of 2025, with the deadline set for June 4.
Launched in 2022, the program aims to ease the financial burden of education for residents and foster local talent. The maximum support amount is 1 million won per semester.
Eligible applicants are university students under the age of 30 as of January 2025. Both the student and their guardian must have been registered residents of Ganghwa-gun for at least three years as of the date of the announcement. Applications can be submitted in person at the Ganghwa-gun Office of Autonomous Education or via email.
