Incheon urges citizens to follow malaria prevention guidelines after nationwide advisory
Following the nationwide malaria advisory issued by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on June 20, the Incheon Metropolitan City is urging citizens to strictly adhere to prevention measures and stay alert.
Malaria is most common between April and October in regions such as Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon. After being bitten by an infected mosquito, symptoms may appear following an incubation period of 7 to 30 days. These include fever, chills, sweating, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Because the symptoms often resemble a common cold, relying solely on over-the-counter fever medicine can delay diagnosis. Anyone experiencing suspected symptoms is strongly advised to seek medical attention without delay.
