Incheon, Two Roads Still Closed Due to Heavy Rain… 258 mm in Yeongjongdo


Due to heavy rain that started early yesterday morning in the Incheon area, as of 5 a.m. today, two city roads are flooded and closed to vehicle traffic.

The closed roads are the “Rabbit Tunnel” in Jakjeon-dong, Gyeyang-gu, and the Yongjong Underpass section.

Since 4 a.m. on the 13th, heavy rain has fallen in Incheon, with cumulative rainfall as of 5 a.m. today measuring 258 mm in Yeongjongdo (Unnam-dong, Jung-gu), 250.5 mm in Gyeyang-dong, Gyeyang-gu, and 241.9 mm in Deokjeok-myeon, Ongjin-gun.






Incheon Collects 3,600 Tons of Marine Waste This Year, Expands Private Sector Cooperation


Incheon City announced it collected a total of 3,669 tons of marine waste between January and July this year to help create cleaner seas.

Over the past three years, the city has collected a combined 16,000 tons—5,190 tons in 2022, 5,512 tons in 2023, and 5,299 tons in 2024.

Each year, Incheon runs projects such as shoreline waste collection through local job programs, supporting cleanup vessel operations for island areas, and handling waste from hard-to-access coastlines.





Incheon Urges Court Administration Office to Pass Bill for Maritime Court in the City


On the 13th, Incheon City visited the Supreme Court to request active cooperation from the Court Administration Office for passing the bill to establish a maritime court.

The city heard opinions on the bill’s review, which was recently discussed at the first subcommittee of the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee, and delivered a proposal highlighting the need to host the court in Incheon.

Previously, Incheon gathered 1.1 million citizen signatures in 2023 and submitted them to the Court Administration Office, and in 2024 again called for the court’s establishment with a citywide campaign group.






Incheon Ranks First in Nation for Fine Dust Management Plan Evaluation


Incheon ranked first among 17 metropolitan governments in the Ministry of Environment’s comprehensive evaluation of fine dust management plan implementation.

The evaluation analyzed how well each city or province carried out their 2023 fine dust management plans, with Incheon achieving the highest performance rate compared to its targets.

This year, the city divided its fine dust reduction projects into six categories—fugitive dust, port and aviation, power and industry, agriculture and daily life, transportation, and monitoring/analysis—and increased the number of projects from last year by nine, for a total of 85 projects.






Employment Rates Drop in Gyeonggi and Incheon amid Slowdown in Manufacturing, Retail, and Construction


In July, Incheon’s employment rate was 63.4%, down 0.6 percentage points from 64.0% a year earlier.

The unemployment rate was 2.7%, down 0.2 percentage points.

According to the Statistics Korea Gyeongin Regional Office’s “July 2025 Incheon Employment Trends,” the population aged 15 and over was 2.711 million, up 37,000 (1.4%) from 2.674 million last year.

The economically active population was 1.765 million, up 3,000 (0.2%) from 1.762 million, while the economically inactive population was 946,000, up 34,000 (3.7%) from 912,000.






Incheon City Council Launches New Ethics Review Advisory Committee


The Incheon City Council held an appointment ceremony for members of its Ethics Review Advisory Committee.

The new committee, replacing the one launched in August 2023 after its term expired, consists of seven members: four new members from the legal and academic sectors, and three reappointed from the media and civic groups.

The committee, required by the revised Local Autonomy Act as an advisory body to the Special Ethics Committee, will serve for two years and advise on lawmakers’ concurrent jobs and profit-making activities, compliance with ethical codes, and disciplinary matters.






Incheon Office of Education Announces Support Plan for School Violence Victims


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced yesterday a dedicated support plan for students who are victims of school violence.

The plan is part of the “100 On-Site Support Measures to Restore the Essence of Schools” and focuses on expanding the role of dedicated support officers to provide tailored help for victimized students.

It aims to strengthen capabilities in academic record management, support procedures, cooperation with related agencies, and case handling, taking on a wider scope than last year.






Incheon’s Yeonsu-gu and Songdo Fire Station Sign Agreement to Boost Mental Health Response


On August 12, Yeonsu-gu Mental Health Welfare Center signed an agreement with Songdo Fire Station to strengthen responses to mental health crises.

The agreement aims to establish a quick and systematic response system for mental health emergencies and to promote mental well-being among firefighters by preventing trauma.

Both sides will work together to respond effectively to crises and actively protect the mental health of frontline fire personnel.
