Heavy rain during morning commute in Seoul area, up to 180 mm more… Heavy showers all morning


Rain clouds developing over the West Sea will keep moving in, bringing heavy rain of around 30 mm per hour to the Seoul area, inland and northern mountainous areas of Gangwon, and northern Chungnam until this morning.

In particular, in the Seoul area, rain may pour very heavily at 30–70 mm per hour until morning.

The rain is expected to weaken in the afternoon, but it will not completely stop until night.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast at 5 a.m. today that an additional 50–150 mm, up to more than 180 mm, of rain will fall in the Seoul area and the five West Sea islands.






Incheon’s Deokjeokdo declared a ‘trash-free island’… Leading low-carbon tourism


A project to make Deokjeokdo, a famous island tourist spot in Incheon, a ‘trash-free island’ will be carried out.

The city said it will hold a declaration ceremony tomorrow at Deokjeokdo Pier in Ongjin-gun with the Incheon Sustainable Development Council.

As Deokjeokdo’s rich ecological and cultural resources have gained attention, visitor numbers have recently surged, causing serious problems with household waste and tourist trash.

The city will promote campaigns such as reducing single-use items, improving waste separation, and having tourists take their trash back, with participation from residents, merchants, and visitors.





 

Incheon City to recruit more people for ‘loan interest support project’ to ease young people’s housing costs


Incheon Metropolitan City announced it will recruit new participants for the ‘loan interest support project for housing rental deposits’ through the Incheon Youth Portal starting August 18, to improve housing stability for young people and ease their financial burden.

This project is for young people living in Incheon, supporting part of their loan interest for rental deposits to reduce their housing costs.

Eligible applicants are young, single homeowners aged 19 to 39 who have no house, are registered residents of Incheon or plan to move there, have an annual income of 60 million or less individually, and a combined spousal income of 80 million or less.






Incheon City extends ‘Graffiti Artist Exhibition with the Joy of Liberation’ due to public response


Incheon Metropolitan City’s Incheon Urban History Museum announced it will extend the exhibition ‘Smile Again in the Recovered Nation’ for the 80th anniversary of Liberation until November 2.

This exhibition was prepared to newly highlight independence activists from Incheon for the 80th anniversary of Liberation.

Since it began on June 17, the exhibition has shown dynamic works that reimagine the stories of independence activists from Incheon. It has received a strong response from family visitors, leading to its extension until November 2 so more citizens can see it.






Ganghwa-gun Begins Review of 93 Citizen-Pledged Projects


Ganghwa-gun’s civilian advisory group, the “8th Term Pledge Implementation Evaluation Committee,” officially began activities yesterday with its inaugural meeting.

The committee was formed to increase resident participation in Ganghwa-gun  governance and enhance transparency and accountability in fulfilling pledges.

It will provide policy suggestions and propose improvements to help implement the pledges quickly.






Incheon Office of Education Announces Support Plan for School Violence Victims


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced yesterday a dedicated support plan for students who are victims of school violence.

The plan is part of the “100 On-Site Support Measures to Restore the Essence of Schools” and focuses on expanding the role of dedicated support officers to provide tailored help for victimized students.

It aims to strengthen capabilities in academic record management, support procedures, cooperation with related agencies, and case handling, taking on a wider scope than last year.






Incheon’s Yeonsu-gu and Songdo Fire Station Sign Agreement to Boost Mental Health Response


On August 12, Yeonsu-gu Mental Health Welfare Center signed an agreement with Songdo Fire Station to strengthen responses to mental health crises.

The agreement aims to establish a quick and systematic response system for mental health emergencies and to promote mental well-being among firefighters by preventing trauma.

Both sides will work together to respond effectively to crises and actively protect the mental health of frontline fire personnel.
