Incheon City and Gu Offices United in Commitment to Enforcing the Ban on Direct Landfilling of Household Waste
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that the city and all district mayors have expressed a united commitment to implementing the ban on direct landfilling of household waste in the Seoul metropolitan area.
At the meeting of the Incheon District Mayors’Council held in Namdong-gu on October 13, Incheon City and the district leaders reaffirmed their resolution that the ban on direct landfilling of household waste, set to take effect on January 1, 2026, must be implemented strictly in accordance with the law and principles. They also discussed joint countermeasures to ensure thorough preparation so that citizens will not experience inconvenience.
Incheon City plans to continue cooperating with the gu offices to strengthen the foundation for stable waste management by expanding incineration facilities, advancing recycling systems, and promoting citizen-participation campaigns for waste reduction.
Public Lecturer Son CheolJoo Speaks on the Humanities of Traditional Paintings in Incheon
Incheon Metropolitan City Museum announced that it will hold the first lecture of the“27th Museum Academy”on October 17 at 2 p.m., featuring art critic Son CheolJoo, under the theme“The Fascinating Stories of Our Traditional Paintings.”
This lecture marks the beginning of the series titled“The Happiness of Art: The Perspectives of Four Masters,”and it is designed as a public lecture that interprets traditional art in a way that is easy for citizens to understand.
In this lecture, the audience will explore traditional Korean paintings from the perspective of“reading paintings.”
2025 Incheon Living Culture Festival to Be Held at Wolmi Park
Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Foundation for Arts & Culture announced that the“2025 Incheon Living Culture Festival”will be held on Saturday, October 18, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Wolmi Park in Jung-gu, Incheon.
The festival will bring together 100 living culture clubs active in Incheon, creating a venue for citizens to enjoy and participate in local cultural activities.
Open to all, the event will feature a variety of programs combining performances, exhibitions, and hands-on experiences that everyone can enjoy easily.
Incheon Foundation for Women & Family Holds IFWF Human Rights Week
The Incheon Foundation for Women & Family (IFWF) announced that it has designated“IFWF Human Rights Week”to help employees and service users recognize and practice the values of human rights and mutual respect in everyday life.
The first IFWF Human Rights Week will include the communication forum“Human Rights Right”for human rights officers, the program“Are Your Rights Being Respected?”to share human rights management evaluations and cases with service users, and the“Human Rights Slogan Contest”for employees and Incheon citizens.
During the Human Rights Week, the foundation will produce and distribute infographics and souvenirs featuring staff-created human rights poems, various cases, and selected slogan contest entries. Through this, it aims to encourage the natural practice of human rights in daily life and contribute to realizing social value.
Yeonsu-gu Designates Two Honorary Roads Named After Sister Cities in the U.S. and China
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Yeonsu-gu in Incheon City has designated two honorary road names inspired by its sister cities abroad.
One of the sister cities, Cottonwood Heights in Utah, USA, was used for the 1.3 km section of Songdo Munhwa-ro (from Yeonsu-gu 2nd District Office to the Global Campus area), now named“Cottonwood Heights-ro.”
Another section of 1.4 km along Neungheodae-ro (from Ongam Intersection to Neungheodae Park) has been named“Qinhuai-ro”to commemorate the friendship with Qinhuai District in Nanjing, China.
Incheon City Council and Dalian People’s Congress Delegation Hold Meeting to Resume Exchange
Incheon Metropolitan City Council and the delegation from the Dalian People’s Congress held a meeting to discuss resuming exchanges and strengthening friendship between the two city councils.
According to Incheon City Council on October 13, the delegation—led by Fang Jianwei, Director of the Financial and Economic Committee of the Standing Committee of the Dalian People’s Congress—visited the council and held a meeting that day.
The meeting was arranged following a request from the International Cooperation Division of Incheon City at the end of September to organize a meeting between the Chairperson of Incheon City Council and the Dalian delegation.
“2025 All Nights Songdo Festa”to Be Held from October 17 to 26
Incheon City and Incheon Tourism Organization announced that they will host the“2025 All Nights Songdo Festa”from October 17 to 26 at Songdo Central Park.
This event is a representative autumn night-time program of Incheon, the nation’s first officially designated“Night Tourism Specialized City.”It will feature a variety of cultural and hands-on activities against the beautiful backdrop of Songdo’s sunset and night view.
The main program,“LumiNight Songdo,”is a unique nighttime experience under the moonlight, taking place at the UN Plaza in Songdo Central Park from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on October 18 (Sat) and 19 (Sun), featuring“Moonlight Yoga”and“Moonlight Library.”
