Incheon City temporarily suspends recruitment for Cambodia medical volunteer group


Incheon City has announced the temporary suspension of its recruitment for the Cambodia dispatch youth medical volunteer group.

Last month, the city had planned to select about 20 university and graduate students residing in Incheon through the “2025 Incheon Youth Global Medical Volunteer Group” program to carry out oral hygiene education, assist in local medical services, and engage in school environment improvement activities in Cambodia.

However, since the government has issued a special travel advisory for Cambodia, urging citizens to cancel visits, a city official explained, “Given the unstable situation in the planned volunteer area, we decided to temporarily suspend recruitment to prioritize participants’ safety.”






Korea-China Governors Forum to be held in Seoul on Oct. 28–30 after seven years


The Governors Association of the Republic of Korea announced that it will co-host the 3rd Korea-China Governors Forum with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul from October 28 to 30.

Coinciding with the 2025 APEC Summit, this year’s forum will focus on “Joint Development and Practical Cooperation between Korean and Chinese Local Governments,” discussing collaboration in advanced industries and promoting cultural and tourism exchanges between the two countries.

From Korea, Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong bok, who serves as the chair of the Governors Association, along with other provincial and metropolitan mayors, will attend. From China, Lin Songtian, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and local government representatives will participate.






Job fair to support small business owners in Incheon to be held on Oct. 15


A “Small Business Job Fair” will be held to provide stable employment connections for small business owners.

The Incheon Regional Office of SMEs and Startups and the Incheon branch of the Small Enterprise and Market Service announced that the event will take place on October 15 at the first-floor auditorium of the Incheon SME Office.

About 50 leading companies, including Coupang and Lotte GRS, will participate, with a total hiring scale of around 500 people.




Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education to hire 663 new educational staff


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced an open recruitment of 663 new education public employees across 13 job categories.

The hiring includes 425 cooking assistants, 71 special education assistants, 47 educational administrative assistants (integrated), 43 after-school care staff for elementary schools, and 28 after-school kindergarten instructors.

Applications can be submitted online through the office’s website from 9 a.m. on October 15 to 6 p.m. on October 20.






Incheon high school athletes to compete in the 106th National Sports Festival – early gold medals draw attention


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that 462 high school athletes (232 male and 219 female) will represent Incheon at the 106th National Sports Festival, held in Busan from October 17 to 23.

Incheon’s high school athletes have consistently achieved excellent results at the festival, contributing to the city’s overall ranking improvement. This year, they have already shown strong performance, winning seven gold medals in the gymnastics pre-events.

During the event, the education office will operate an on-site support center in Busan to ensure the safety and well-being of the athletes and, for the first time, will run a local conditioning support team of external experts to help improve athletic performance.






Ganghwa-gun discusses building a National Goryeo Museum “together with residents”


Ganghwa-gun held an Incheon Cultural Policy Forum on October 14 at the Ganghwa-gun Office under the theme “Why doesn’t the capital of Goryeo, Ganghwa, have a National Museum?”

Jointly hosted by Ganghwa-gun and the Incheon Cultural Foundation, this forum was the third discussion following two prior debates held at the National Assembly in July and September.

Residents directly participated in the discussion, sharing their expectations and demands for the construction of the National Goryeo Museum in Ganghwa and exploring ways to utilize local cultural resources.





Gyeyang-gu conducts traffic safety campaign at Hyoseong Middle School


Incheon’s Gyeyang-gu is actively promoting a “School Route Traffic Safety Campaign” to prevent child traffic accidents and ensure safe school routes.

The district announced that it conducted a traffic safety campaign yesterday in front of Hyoseong Middle School.

The campaign, which began on September 18, will continue until December 18, touring elementary and middle schools throughout the district each week.




 Namdong-gu launches “Namdong Saranghak Academy” local education program


Incheon’s Namdong-gu has officially begun the “Namdong Saranghak Academy,” an educational program for elementary students to learn about the district’s history and culture.

The program is being conducted at schools selected through applications in July, with certified “Namdong Academy Instructors” visiting each school to teach classes.

The “Namdong Saranghak Academy” uses Namdong-gu’s local resources such as history, culture, and environment to help students understand their community and explore its future value. The first session focuses on classroom-based local studies, while the second session involves on-site experiences such as village exploration.
