Incheon City’s Baby Supplies Flea Market Sees Strong Turnout
Incheon City successfully held the 2025 Baby Supplies Sharing Festival (Flea Market) as part of its initiative to build a child-friendly city.
The event took place on October 18 at Namdong Gymnasium, drawing over 1,200 participants, including daycare center staff, families with young children, and local residents, serving as a warm, family-oriented space for community sharing.
Hosted by Incheon City and organized by the Incheon Support Center For Childcare, this annual event has been held since 2022. It aims to ease the financial burden on families through the reuse of baby supplies, while also promoting a positive environment for raising children in the city.
Incheon City Conducts Capacity Building Training for Medical Benefits Personnel
Incheon City announced that it has conducted capacity building and safety training for public officials and coordinators responsible for managing the city’s medical benefits system.
The training focused on the In-Home Medical Benefits Program, which helps long-term inpatients—who are recipients of medical benefits—successfully return to and reintegrate into their local communities after discharge.
Currently, 32 medical benefits coordinators are active in Incheon. Their responsibilities include providing education and counseling to beneficiaries, offering guidance on the medical benefits system, and monitoring adherence to medication instructions as part of comprehensive health management.
IFEZ Successfully Holds 2025 Korean Speech Contest for Foreigners
The Incheon Free Economic Zone announced that the "2025 IFEZ Korean Speech Contest," held at the IFEZ Global Center on the 17th, was a great success.
Now in its fifth year since launching in 2021, the contest aims to promote Korean culture and language among foreigners living in Incheon.
After preliminary rounds, 10 finalists from 8 countries advanced to the final stage, showcasing their fluent Korean-speaking skills.
Participants delivered five-minute speeches on either “My Experience in Incheon / My Experience with Korean Culture” or a topic of their own choice.
Incheon Office of Education Accepting Name Suggestions for Two New Schools
The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education announced it is accepting name submissions for two new schools until October 31.
The schools, tentatively named Geomdan Middle School No. 6 and Geomdan High School No. 3, are both located in Bullo-dong, Seo-gu. Geomdan Middle School No. 6 is scheduled to open in March 2026, and Geomdan High School No. 3 in March 2027.
Anyone can participate by submitting naming proposals through the Office’s website. The official names will be finalized around February next year through the review, consultation and deliberation process conducted by the School Naming Selection Committee, the School Naming Advisory Committee, and the School Naming Deliberation Committee, followed by an ordinance revision by the Incheon Metropolitan Council.
Michuhol-gu to Host “Incheon Wondosaje Ritual and Nak-seom Island Festival” on Oct. 25
Michuhol-gu in Incheon will host the “Incheon Wondosaje Ritual and Nak-seom Island Festival” on October 25 in the temporary road area near Kumho 2nd Apartment in Yonghyeon 5-dong.
"Wondosaje" refers to a state ritual from the Joseon Dynasty, performed in spring and autumn by a local governor on behalf of the king at a shrine called Wondosa, where offerings were made to multiple deities.
This year’s event will begin with a street parade and feature a reenactment of the Wondosaje ritual, a fusion Korean music performance by "Band Isang," traditional games and hands-on experience booths, community cultural performances, and food stalls.
