Incheon City Requests National Budget Support for Seven Key Projects from the People Power Party
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it proposed support for major regional projects during the Budget Policy Consultation Meeting between the People Power Party and the Seoul metropolitan area held at the National Assembly.
Ahead of the National Assembly’s budget deliberations, Mayor Yoo JeongBok urged the party leadership to allocate additional national funding for several key local initiatives.
The city requested a total of 74.9 billion won in national funding for seven major projects, including the establishment of an Infectious Disease Specialty Hospital in Incheon, support for Incheon’s administrative system reform, and the creation of a blockchain innovation cluster.
Incheon’s ‘Safety Quiz Competition’ for Foreign Workers’ Draws Enthusiastic Participation
Safety Quiz Competition for Foreign Workers, organized by Incheon City to raise safety awareness among foreign workers, was held in an atmosphere brimming with energy and enthusiasm.
The event took place on Nov 2 at the Incheon Foreign Workers Support Center, with over 100 foreign workers participating.
The city announced plans to continue expanding safety education and welfare programs for foreign workers to create a safer and more inclusive work environment.
Incheon Wins Korea’s First-Ever ‘UN Global Sustainable City Award’
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it received the 2025 UN Global Sustainable City Award during the World Cities Day Ceremony held on October 31 (local time) in Bogotá, Colombia.
The award, jointly established in 2023 by UN-Habitat and the Shanghai Municipal Government, recognizes cities that have achieved exemplary outcomes in sustainable urban development.
This year, 85 cities from around the world competed for the honor, which was the highest number in the award’s history, and Incheon was selected as one of 15 finalist cities. After a rigorous final evaluation, the city earned the honor of receiving the award.
Incheon Holds ‘i-Sarang Prenatal Concert’ to Celebrate Expectant Mothers
Incheon Metropolitan City hosted the i-Sarang Prenatal Music Concert to promote a culture of social care for expectant mothers and raise awareness about the importance of childbirth.
The event, held on October 31 at the Small Theater of the Incheon Culture & Arts Center to commemorate the 20th Pregnant Women’s Day, featured various side programs and performances.
The concert fostered positive perceptions of childbirth and parenting among expectant mothers and their families while promoting a culture of empathy and care in the community.
Incheon Technopark and City Selected for Defense SME Productivity Enhancement Project
Incheon Technopark (IncheonTP) and Incheon Metropolitan City announced that they were selected for the 2026 Defense SME Productivity Enhancement Project for Industrial Complexes.
Organized by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), the initiative aims to strengthen the production capacity of defense-related small and medium-sized manufacturers by modernizing and optimizing production systems in response to the rapid growth of K-defense exports.
The project will support four defense SMEs in areas such as the improvement and modernization of production facilities, enhancement of inspection software, installation of additional production equipment, and replacement or overhaul of outdated machinery.
