“1883 Incheon Jajangmyeon Festival” Concludes Successfully with Enthusiastic Citizen Participation
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that the “1883 Incheon Jajangmyeon Festival,” held from November 1 to 2 across Incheon’s Chinatown, Open Port area, and Sangsang Platform, concluded successfully amid enthusiastic participation from citizens and visitors. The festival received positive reviews for its fresh, citizen-centered planning.
Photo zones and street events in Chinatown—the birthplace of Korean-style Jajangmyeon—attracted visitors throughout the weekend, while nearby Chinese restaurants bustled with tourists savoring the distinct flavors that define Incheon as the home of Jajangmyeon.
Adding a meaningful touch to the festival, the organizing agency announced plans to donate the cooking equipment used during the event to the Incheon Chinese Cuisine Association, which has been serving free Jajangmyeon meals to the community for 13 consecutive years.
Incheon City Launches Online Access Service for District Unit Planning Information
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that starting today (Nov. 3), detailed District Unit Planning information is now available online through the Incheon City Map Portal on the city’s official website.
A District Unit Plan is an urban management plan that enhances urban functions and improves the cityscape by setting detailed regulations—such as permitted building uses, building coverage ratio, floor area ratio, and height restrictions—tailored to the characteristics of each district.
Through the Map Portal, citizens can easily access comprehensive land information by simply entering an address or selecting a location. The service provides an integrated view of basic land information such as lot number, land category, surface area, etc. along with District Unit Planning details, including planning boundaries, permitted building uses, coverage ratio, floor area ratio, and building height limits—all in one place.
Incheon City Conducts Safety Inspections to Prevent Fires and Crowd Accidents at Large Retail Stores
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it will carry out safety inspections from Nov 3 to 6 to prevent fires and crowd-related accidents at large-scale retail facilities such as hypermarkets and shopping centers.
The inspections will focus on newly opened or high-traffic stores, with a focus on proactively identifying and eliminating potential hazards to prevent major accidents.
Out of the 66 registered large retail facilities in the city, on-site joint inspections will be conducted at four major locations, while the remaining 62 stores will be encouraged to conduct self-inspections to detect and improve safety vulnerabilities.
Incheon’s Unsung Marine Environmental Heroes Honored by City Council
Individuals who made outstanding contributions to protecting Incheon’s marine environment this year were honored with commendations from the Incheon Metropolitan Council.
According to the Industrial and Economic Committee of the Incheon Metropolitan Council on November 2, the event — titled the “2025 Extraordinary General Meeting of the Incheon Branch of the Marine Environment Monitoring Council, the Marine Environment Conservation Activity Results Sharing Session, and Policy Forum”, held at the auditorium of the Incheon branch of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions — was organized to establish a cooperative network between the Council and the local community, raise public awareness of marine environment conservation, and revitalize related programs and initiatives.
Nation’s Largest Lawn Plaza Opens in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon
Yeonsu Hanmaeum Park, home to Korea’s largest lawn plaza, officially opened in Incheon’s Yeonsu-gu.
The park is expected to become a new public retreat for residents and a cultural landmark hosting various community events and performances.
Following the completion ceremony, a lighting event illuminated the vast lawn plaza with three massive light installations, creating a spectacular opening night scene.
