Incheon City Selected for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries’ “Fishing Village Revitalization Project” for the Fourth Consecutive Year
Incheon City announced that Seondoo Port in Ganghwa-gun and Yedanpo Port in Jung-gu were finally selected for the “2026 Fishing Village Revitalization Project” organized by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries this October, marking the city’s fourth consecutive selection since 2023.
The “Fishing Village Revitalization Project” is a national program aimed at enhancing the sustainability of fishing communities by building economic, living, and safety infrastructure in underdeveloped coastal and fishing areas.
Up to 20 billion will be invested in Seondoo Port and Yedanpo Port over the next four years until 2029 to carry out various improvement projects, including the renovation of old fish markets, construction of fishing gear storage facilities, and creation of community spaces, improving living convenience and the overall environment of the fishing villages.
Incheon City Collects 4,726 Tons of Marine Waste This Year
Incheon City announced that it collected a total of 4,726 tons of marine waste between January and the end of October this year to create a cleaner coastal environment.
A total of 11.2 billion was invested in marine waste collection and disposal.
Major projects included: coastal and river floating waste cleanup (7.82 billion), marine waste cleanup (1.46 billion), waste management in vulnerable coastal areas (596 million), purchase of marine waste retrieved during fishing operations (200 million), island waste collection ship operation (1.08 billion), and citizen participation activities (20 million).
Incheon City Launches Drone-Based Smart Urban Management System
Incheon City announced that it is fully expanding its drone-based urban management system to improve efficiency in public services such as disaster response, safety management, and marine environment monitoring.
This year, the city invested a total of 3.795 billion, including 2 billion from the national government and 1.795 billion from the city budget, to establish a drone ecosystem and realize a smart city.
Under the “K-Drone Delivery Commercialization Project,” 126 deliveries of daily goods were successfully carried out in island regions such as Deokjeokdo, enhancing residents’ convenience.
Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education to Hold “2025 Reading, Walking, and Writing Academic Conference” on November 29
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it will host the “2025 Reading, Walking, and Writing Academic Conference” at Gyeongin National University of Education on November 29.
From November 12 to 18, the office is recruiting participants, including middle and high school students, parents, teachers, education officials, citizens, researchers, and university staff.
Under the theme “The AI-Driven Era: Reading, Walking, and Writing as the Answer,” the conference will explore the importance and application of literacy education in the rapidly changing AI-centered society.
Incheon Office of Education Successfully Concludes Elementary Coding Program “Chocolet”
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced the completion of “Chocolet – Elementary Coding Let’s Go,” a career experience program in new industries.
The program, organized by the Incheon Career Education Center, ran from May 15 to November 11, involving about 2,100 sixth-grade students from 22 elementary schools.
It focused on helping students explore and design future careers by linking new technologies such as AI and data learning with the local characteristics of Smart City Incheon, offering practice-based lessons connected to the regular curriculum.
Ganghwa-gun Launches “Sunset Stamp Tour”
Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, announced that it is operating the “Ganghwa Sunset Stamp Tour” through November to celebrate the autumn tourism season.
The mobile stamp tour features four major sunset viewing spots in Ganghwa Island, Janghwari Sunset Viewpoint, Hupo Port, Buno Redoubt, and Dongmak Beach, where participants can earn stamps through GPS-based verification by visiting each site using the “Stamp Tour” mobile app.

Ganghwa-gun to Hold “Incheon History Academic Conference” on the Goryeo Capital Period
Ganghwa-gun, in collaboration with Incheon City and the Korean Society for Medieval History, announced it will hold the “Incheon History Academic Conference” on November 21 at the Incheon Culture & Arts Center under the theme “Goryeo During the Gangdo Period and East Asia.”
According to the county, the conference will focus on the 39-year “Gangdo Period” (1232–1270), examining the relationship between Goryeo and other East Asian countries, and academically supporting the ongoing project to establish the National Ganghwa Goryeo Museum.
In the final panel discussion, former National Museum of Korea Director Kim Jae Hong will chair a session featuring academic experts discussing the historical significance of Goryeo’s Gangdo era in depth.
Incheon Jung-gu Designates Honorary Road “Incheon Firefighting Road” to Commemorate Fire Service History
Incheon’s Jung-gu announced that it has designated an honorary road named “Incheon Firefighting Road” to commemorate the historical value of Incheon’s fire service.
An “honorary road name” is a symbolic title additionally given to a road section to recognize individuals, organizations, or institutions for their social contributions and public service.
The designated section, totaling 633 meters, spans Jayu Park-ro and Songhak-ro.
