​Incheon City Reviews 'Safety Dream' Mentoring Program


Incheon Metropolitan City held a performance review yesterday for its '2025 Women's Safety Dream Mentoring Program.' The two-year initiative pairs professional counselors with women and children who are victims of violence, as well as multicultural families. The program provides 1:1 psychological counseling and cultural experiences. This year's activities, which ran from June to November, also included special 'Mentor-Mentee Meeting Days' in July and September to strengthen their emotional bonds.




Incheon City accelerates Songhyeon Market Demolition​


Incheon City is accelerating its 'Jemulpo Renaissance Project' to revitalize the old downtown area. As a key step, the city is beginning the emergency demolition of the dilapidated Songhyeon Free Market. The move comes after a precision safety inspection in August deemed the market unsafe, assigning an 'E-grade' to seven of its buildings and a 'D-grade' to three.




​Incheon Cleans Up Abandoned Railway Near Open Port Square


Incheon Metropolitan City announced plans to begin environmental cleanup of the abandoned railway site near Open Port Square, which has long been left unused following the lifting of security restrictions and suspension of railway operations.

Open Port Square is a key cultural space in the old downtown that reflects the history of Incheon’s opening to the world. The redevelopment aims to return the area to a safe and open public space through maintenance of the former Chukhang Line, suspended in June 2022, and the section released from security restrictions in October 2023.

The core of the redevelopment plan is to create a pedestrian-friendly environment that allows citizens to naturally access Open Port Square





Incheon Launches 'Digital Nomad City' Project​


Incheon Metropolitan City is launching a new project called 'Digital Nomad City Incheon' as part of its strategy to become a 'Global Top 10 City.' The initiative aims to attract global digital talent and innovators. By attracting these "digital nomads," Incheon plans to create a virtuous cycle that generates new jobs for local youth, expands its global industrial base, and strengthens its innovation ecosystem.






New Opening Port Festa (Gaehang Festa)is Coming to Incheon Next March


​Incheon City has announced a new citizen-participation cultural festival, set to debut next March in the historic open port area. The event is a core part of the 'Jemulpo Cultural Renaissance.' It is being designed as a 'lifestyle-based urban cultural festival' that integrates the area's rich history with performances, markets, exhibitions, and hands-on activities.





​Incheon Education Office Cuts English Village Budget​


The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has cut its budget related to the Incheon English Village, which had been under suspicion for conflict of interest. The cut primarily affects 'regional-linked English experience activities.' An education office official stated that the decision was made due to a difficult financial situation and the program being a low funding priority.






Namdong-gu Holds Traffic Safety Education for Seniors​


Incheon's Namdong-gu Office, in partnership with Namdong Police, conducted a traffic safety education session for about 50 local seniors. Held during 'Pedestrian Safety Week,' the training focused on safe walking habits. A police officer explained the '5 Principles of Road Crossing'—Find, Stop, Look, Wait, and Cross slowly. Participants were also given reflective vests and hats for nighttime safety.
