Amkor Technology Korea Begins Construction of New Semiconductor Testing Facility at Songdo Plant


Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) announced yesterday (19th) that Amkor Technology Korea, a global semiconductor packaging and testing company, has begun expanding its semiconductor testing building within the Advanced Industry Cluster (B) in Songdo International City.

Amkor Technology Korea plans to invest 266.1 billion won in foreign direct investment (FDI) into its Songdo campus to strengthen production capacity in advanced semiconductor testing and high-performance packaging.

The expansion is expected to bolster advanced technological capabilities and secure a stronger foothold in the global semiconductor supply chain.






Incheon City to Develop Daemuui Port on Muui-do as a Key West Coast Fisheries Hub


Incheon City is accelerating efforts to transform Daemuui Port on Muui-do, Jung-gu, into a major fisheries hub along the West Coast.

The city held an interim briefing yesterday (19th) at the Keunmuri Village Hall on Muui-do to present progress on the “Daemuui Port Development Plan” study.

Discussions focused on port improvement measures derived from numerical modeling results, including wave transformation, seawater flow, suspended sediment dispersion, and sediment transport.

The city plans to incorporate feedback from experts and local fishers and complete the development study by May next year.






Incheon City Wins Excellence Award for Its Child Abuse Public Response System


Incheon Metropolitan City has solidified its status as a leading local government in child protection by receiving the Excellence Award in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s 2025 evaluation of local governments operating Child Abuse Public Response Systems. This marks the city’s second recognition following its top award in 2023.

The award was presented at the ceremony for Child Abuse Prevention Day (November 19), acknowledging Incheon’s systematic and effective efforts in preventing child abuse and protecting victims.

The city plans to continue strengthening its workforce and expanding local cooperation networks to prevent repeat abuse and enhance protection for affected children, ultimately creating an environment where all children can grow up safely.






Incheon City Hosts Public Procurement Consultation Event to Expand Market Access for SMEs


Incheon City has achieved tangible results by holding a consultation fair that directly connected public institutions with local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), helping them enter the public procurement market.

The city hosted the “2025 Incheon Public Procurement Consultation Fair” on November 18 at Songdo Convensia, strengthening public procurement support to expand market access for local SMEs and revitalize the regional economy.

To support companies with limited procurement experience, the city strengthened its “one-stop support system,” offering technical certification assistance, procurement registration guidance, and expert consulting—lowering barriers to entry into the public market.





Michuhol-gu Revitalizes Urban Landscape Through Mural Restoration


Michuhol-gu announced that, following similar efforts in the first half of the year, it continued its mural restoration initiative in the second half to improve the local urban environment.

After refurbishing the aging mural on the retaining wall under the Subong Overpass in September, Michuhol-gu conducted additional restoration this month on the staircase murals along Gyeongin-ro 499 beon-gil.

The project was carried out with the support of the InCheon Youth Group (ICYG), with 15 students from SUNY Korea participating in the mural restoration.
