Incheon Metropolitan City expands support facilities for foreign residents


Incheon Metropolitan City announced it will open new support facilities for foreign residents starting in January 2026. While the foreign population in Incheon has rapidly grown to about 170,000, the lack of space has been a concern with only three existing support centers. This expansion was made possible by Hana Bank providing free space at the Namdong Industrial Complex, where the city plans to offer various life, education, and counseling programs.






Incheon Metropolitan City modifies names of 107 public institutions


Incheon Metropolitan City is revising the names of 107 public institutions that currently use cardinal directions like 'East' or 'West' to better reflect local identity. The city finalized its roadmap in September based on research intended to improve citizen convenience. This move aligns with the administrative reorganization taking effect next July, where current districts like Jung-gu and Seo-gu will be replaced by new names such as Yeongjong-gu and Jemulpo-gu.





Incheon Metropolitan City completes the basic plan for hosting F1 next January


Incheon Metropolitan City plans to complete its basic plan and feasibility study for hosting the F1 Grand Prix by next January. The study, which includes circuit design concepts, is being jointly conducted by a research institute and the circuit design firm Tilke. Once the study is finished, the city intends to request state-level support and discuss operations with official promoters to advance the hosting process.

The Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) signed an MOU with the Incheon Port Authority and Local Cargo Truckers Solidarity Union to create a safer logistics environment at Incheon Port. Under this agreement, the organizations will cooperate to improve driving conditions for cargo trucks and ensure safety in workyards and terminals. A TS official stated that they remain committed to securing traffic safety through continuous cooperation with relevant agencies.





Gyeyang-gu hosts a Christmas festival at Ara-on until next January


Incheon’s Gyeyang-gu is hosting a Christmas Festa at Gyeyang Ara-on along the Gyeongin Ara Waterway, running until next January. The district will celebrate the season with a lighting ceremony for a 10-meter tall tree and various performances. The event will be closely linked with the current ‘Street of Lights’ to connect the southern and northern ends of Ara-on via the Gyeyang Bridge.
