Incheon City Wins Two Honors at Korea Communications Awards
Incheon Metropolitan City has won two categories at the 2025 Korea Communications Awards, which were held yesterday. The city earned recognition in both the advertising and public campaign category and the marketing and public relations category.
The awards reflect strong public response to the city’s content that weaves policy into everyday life, as well as interactive campaigns that highlight Incheon’s urban identity.
Incheon City received the Joint Executive Chairperson’s Award of the Busan International Advertising Festival for its vlog-style promotional video themed “A Better Incheon, A Happier Incheon.”
Incheon City Extends Jeonse Fraud Support Consultations Through Year-End
Incheon Metropolitan City is extending its customized one-on-one consultation program for jeonse fraud victims through the end of the year, as the service continues to receive strong on-site feedback and helps close support gaps.
Since November, the city has been conducting phone-based consultations for 1,355 individuals officially recognized as jeonse fraud victims. Through these calls, the city has been proactively identifying residents who were unaware of available support programs while also guiding them through eligibility and application procedures.
With continued positive responses from citizens, along with rising requests for additional consultations and inquiries about assistance, the city has decided to extend the program beyond the initially planned end date of December 19.
Incheon Library Selected as an Excellent Operator of the 2025 Book-Narae Service
Incheon Metropolitan City’s Incheon Library has been selected as an excellent operator of the 2025 Book-Narae Service and has received a commendation from the National Library for the Disabled.
The Book-Narae Service is a non-face-to-face book borrowing program that delivers library materials free of charge to users who have difficulty visiting the library in person, including people with disabilities, national merit recipients with disabilities, and long-term care recipients.
After registering as a member on the Incheon Library website or the Book-Narae website, users can apply for the service and borrow up to ten items for a maximum of 28 days.
Incheon Metropolitan Dance Theatre Premieres New Original Production
The Incheon Metropolitan Dance Theatre will present its new original production, The Solar Bird – Unfolding the Wings of Light, on December 19 and 20 at the Grand Theater of the Incheon Culture and Arts Center, celebrating the venue’s reopening.
This large-scale narrative dance drama begins in the mythological world of ancient Korea and unfolds onto the modern stage.
Drawing inspiration from Incheon’s energy of transition and renewal, the performance personifies the “solar bird”—a mythical symbol of immortality and rebirth—to depict both the city’s past memories and its future aspirations. Through dance, the work expresses the nation’s history, vitality, and enduring spirit.
Incheon Subway Line 2 to Replace Train Seats with Reinforced Plastic
The Incheon Transit Corporation is moving ahead with a project to replace passenger seats on Incheon Subway Line 2 trains with glass-reinforced plastic seats through 2028, investing more than 700 million won in the upgrade.
The corporation plans to begin with 16 trainsets this year and gradually replace seats on all 43 trains in operation.
The new reinforced plastic seats are more resistant to stains and damage, and the improved durability is expected to reduce maintenance costs by roughly 1.6 billion won over the long term.
Michuhol-gu Breaks Ground on New Government Office Building
Michuhol-gu in Incheon held a groundbreaking ceremony on December 3, at the district office sports field for its new government complex.
The new building, set for completion in 2029, will be constructed on the current site in Sungui-dong at a cost of 80 billion Won. Plans call for a facility with two underground floors, eight above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 25,750 square meters.
The project will be funded and built by DCRE—the developer of the Yonghyeon, Hagik District 1 urban development project—as part of its public contribution, after which the building will be donated to the district.
