Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it was named a Top 3 local government at the 2025 UN SDG Innovation Award Ceremony, held on December 7 in Munich, Germany.
Following its Top 5 selection last year, Incheon advanced one step further this year by achieving Top 3, marking its second consecutive win.
The UN SDG Innovation Award is an internationally recognized honor jointly organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the German Economic Council, recognizing countries, local governments, companies, youth, and educational institutions that contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
(News) Incheon to Conduct Special Winter Food Safety Inspections
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it will carry out hygiene inspections of 100 food establishments located near heavily frequented public facilities from December 15 to 19, for five days, as part of its winter food safety campaign.
Key inspection targets include restaurants, cafés, and other food service businesses near multi-use public facilities with increased foot traffic during winter.
Inspectors will focus on compliance with kitchen hygiene and facility standards, personal hygiene practices, proper food storage and handling, use or sale of unregistered products, storage of expired food items, food reuse practices, and the management of cooking oil, all of which directly affect public health.
(News) “i-Plus Connecting” 5th Event Wraps Up as a Romantic Year-End Highlight
Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association announced that the 5th round of “i-Plus (i+) Connecting” event was successfully concluded on December 6 at Oakwood Premier Incheon.
Since its first event in June, the fifth and final session of the year brought together 100 unmarried men and women (50 men and 50 women, aged 24–39) who either reside in Incheon or work for a company based in the city. A total of 1,556 applicants applied, recording a highly competitive application ratio of 15.5 to 1, once again demonstrating strong interest among young people in social matchmaking programs.
As a result of the event, 27 couples were successfully matched, achieving a matching rate of 54 percent.

The Incheon Urban History Museum announced that it will open a special interactive children’s exhibition titled “Let’s Go! Tidal Flat City” starting on December 9.
Held ahead of the winter vacation season, the exhibition offers hands-on, family-friendly content that allows children and families to learn about the formation of Incheon through play-based experiences.
Organized around the concept of a “tidal flat city,” the exhibition introduces Incheon’s development process—transforming seas and tidal flats into new urban spaces—in a way that is accessible and engaging for children.
Incheon Opens Detour Pathway to Sorae Marsh Ecological Park
A new detour pathway leading to the Sorae Marsh Ecological Park has been completed, enabling residents to access the park more conveniently.
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it has opened the newly built route connecting LH Humansia Complex 12 in Seochang 2-gu to the park.
The pathway is a wooden deck road measuring 169 meters in length and 2.5 meters in width, built at a cost of 2 billion won.
Incheon Metropolitan Council Discusses Practical Support Measures for Early-Stage Single-Parent Families
The Culture and Welfare Committee of the Incheon Metropolitan Council held a policy discussion forum to explore systematic support measures for early-stage single-parent families.
The discussion was organized following the revision of the Incheon Metropolitan City Ordinance on Support for Single-Parent Families, which newly mandates the establishment and implementation of support programs for early-stage single-parent families, proposed by Committee Chair Yoo Kyung-hee. And the event was designed to closely assess the realities faced by these families and to explore practical and effective support measures.
During the forum, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on concrete support strategies for early-stage single-parent families.
