Incheon Global Campus set to become a hub for urban diplomacy and industry–academia cooperation
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) will launch Phase 2 of the Incheon Global Campus (IGC) project. The initiative is designed to attract prestigious universities and advanced research institutes, accelerating the development of a global innovation ecosystem.
Last year, IFEZ laid the groundwork by signing memoranda of understanding with two foreign universities to establish local campuses in Incheon.
Mayor Yoo Jeongbok said the project will drive innovation based on each institution’s strengths and make a meaningful contribution to strengthening national research capabilities.
Incheon to Develop Support Pier for Offshore Wind Farm at New Port
Incheon is moving forward with a plan to build a dedicated support pier at Incheon New Port for the offshore wind farm under development off the city’s coast.
Under the statutory port master plan, which the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries updates every ten years, the proposed pier would be located on the eastern hinterland of the stage-1 and stage-2 container terminals at the New Port.
The project is estimated to require an investment of about 320 billion won.
Incheon introduces patient-transfer flow analysis system to reduce ER-hopping
The city of Incheon has developed a new system to analyze patient-transfer patterns, with the aim of preventing “emergency-room hopping,” in which patients are moved from hospital to hospital while seeking care.
The city unveiled two systems — iMAP and iNET — during an emergency-medical meeting attended by municipal and district health offices, the fire department and medical institutions.
iMAP visualizes transfer routes and geographic information, allowing authorities to identify cases in which patients were sent to hospitals unable to admit them.
Incheon signs agreement to expand address-based intelligent mobility services at the Incheon international airport
The city of Incheon signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Incheon Jung-gu Office and the Incheon International Airport Corporation to expand an address-based intelligent mobility information project at Incheon International Airport.
Selected under the Ministry’s 2025 program for address-system advancement and innovation-driven industries, the pilot will test address-based services such as autonomous carrier-delivery robots and airport patrol robots, particularly for passengers with children and mobility-challenged travelers.
Building on previous project results, the city plans to identify location-based mobility service models and gradually implement pilot projects in large-scale spaces, including Incheon international Airport terminals, to enhance user convenience.
Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education to hold 2026 policy briefings
The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education will hold its 2026 Incheon Education Policy Briefing on December 9, 15 and 16. More than 1,500 principals, vice-principals, administrative directors and teachers from kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, special and alternative schools are expected to attend.
This year’s briefing focuses on the Office’s core direction for 2026 — strengthening support for school operations — and outlines key policy tasks aligned with that goal.
To reinforce classroom activities, the Office plans to increase staffing for regular and contract teachers, expand school operating funds and improve learning conditions so that educators can concentrate fully on instruction.
Korea International Choral Competition to be held in Songdo next year
The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education has signed an agreement with the organizing committee of the Korea International Choral Competition (KICC).
The event will bring about 2,000 participants across roughly 60 teams from 18 countries to the Songdo area next year.
In addition to domestic and international choral competitions, the program will feature master classes, K-pop performances and a range of cultural events.
