Incheon Metropolitan City has secured four major awards in this year’s key job-creation evaluations led by central government ministries, reaffirming its status as Korea’s leading city for job creation — both in quantity and quality.
On November 20, Incheon City, along with Jung-gu, Dong-gu, and Bupyeong-gu, was named among the 22 award-winning local governments nationwide in the “2025 First Half Local Government Job Program Evaluation” organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
With this achievement, Incheon secured 160 million won in special subsidies, further strengthening its capacity to drive customized local job-creation initiatives.
Incheon Improves the Environment of Nine Child Welfare Facilities to Build a Happier City for Children
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it has completed environmental improvements at 9 child welfare facilities by securing more than 290 million won through a combination of lottery funds and city budget.
The project aims to ensure that children in care grow up in a safer and more pleasant environment. Renovations included replacing outdated windows, sinks, and air-conditioning units at child-care facilities to enhance both safety and comfort.
This facility-improvement initiative prioritizes locations where urgent repairs are needed due to safety risks or aging infrastructure, ensuring that resources are effectively allocated to provide children with secure and nurturing living conditions.
Incheon Secures 14.9 Billion Won for Four New Coastal Maintenance Projects
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that four new zones have been included in the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries’ revised Basic Plan for the 3rd Coastal Maintenance Project, securing a total budget of 14.9 billion won.
Based on this funding, the city plans to take proactive action against coastal erosion and accelerate policies aimed at protecting public safety and preserving the coastal environment.
Among the newly designated project zones, the Daecheong-do Moraeul-dong Zone in Ongjin-gun and the Wangsan–Yongyu Zone in Jung-gu will begin first in 2026, followed by the launch of the Soijak Port Zone in Ongjin-gun in 2028.
Incheon to Open Its First Urban Winter Playground — the Incheon Asiad Ice Rink
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it will officially open the 2025–2026 Incheon Asiad Ice Rink starting Friday, December 19, to improve winter sports accessibility for citizens.
The rink will operate for 62 days, from December 19, 2025 (Fri) to February 18, 2026 (Wed). On opening day, December 19, admission will be free for all citizens.
This marks the first year the city is operating the Incheon Asiad Ice Rink, allowing residents to enjoy winter sports conveniently in the heart of the city.
(News) Namdong-gu Creates Murals at Six Sites Including Retaining Walls and Bridge Piers
Namdong-gu in Incheon announced the completion of mural projects at six locations, including retaining walls and bridge pillars, to improve the local urban landscape.
From March to November, the district painted murals in areas such as Mansu-dong, Nonhyeon-dong, and Ganseok-dong. At older mural sites where colors had faded — including along the wall between Hanguk Gongyeong Apartments and Seongshin 2nd Apartments and near the Ganseok Station bus stop — the district restored the artworks. A new mural was also created on the retaining wall in Sariul Neighborhood Park in Nonhyeon-dong to enhance scenery along children’s routes to and from school.
(News) Ganghwa-gun disburses 23.7 Billion Won in Basic Direct Payments
Ganghwa-gun in Incheon began disbursing the 2025 Basic Direct Payment scheme for Public Benefit to eligible farmers starting yesterday.
This year, 10,078 farming households — covering a total farmland area of 10,387 hectares — will receive 23.7 billion won.
The Basic Public Direct Payment Program aims to enhance the public functions of agriculture and rural communities — including environmental preservation, maintenance of rural communities, and food safety — while ensuring stable income for farmers who meet the required eligibility criteria.
