(News) Incheon to Launch Food Security Program for Vulnerable Groups


Incheon Metropolitan City announced that starting in December, it will provide food and daily necessities to vulnerable residents experiencing economic hardship.

The initiative is part of the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Food Security Pilot Program, which is scheduled to transition into a full-scale program in May next year.

Under the program, eligible residents will receive food items and daily necessities worth 20,000 won per person, including instant noodles, ready-to-eat rice, and seasoned seaweed. Distribution will take place every Wednesday from 10 AM to noon on the first floor of the Incheon Social Welfare Center in Namdong-gu.






(News) Incheon Cultural Heritage Playground Program Receives UNESCO Certification


Incheon Metropolitan City announced that its cultural heritage walking tour program, “The More You Learn, the More You Love: Incheon Cultural Heritage Playground,” has received new certification this year as a UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Project.

The UNESCO ESD certification program, operated by the Korean National Commission for UNESCO since 2011, aims to identify and promote outstanding ESD practices each year to expand Korea’s ESD model.

The Incheon Cultural Heritage Playground program, launched as a citizen-proposed policy initiative, is a participatory educational program based on local cultural heritage.






(News) Yeongjong-do Public Transportation Expanded Ahead of Incheon’s Third Incheon Bridge Opening


With the opening of the Third Incheon Bridge scheduled for January 5 next year, public transportation infrastructure on Yeongjong-do will be expanded.

Jung-gu announced that two new city bus routes will be launched in line with the bridge’s opening.

The new routes, Bus No. 281 and No. 282, will both operate via the Third Incheon Bridge, improving connectivity between Yeongjong-do and the mainland.






(News) Incheon Secures 14.9 Billion Won for Four New Coastal Maintenance Projects


Incheon Metropolitan City announced that four new zones including the Daecheong-do Moraeul-dong Zone in Ongjin-gun have been included in the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries’ revised Basic Plan for the 3rd Coastal Maintenance Project, securing a total budget of 14.9 billion won.

Based on this funding, the city plans to take proactive action against coastal erosion and accelerate policies aimed at protecting public safety and preserving the coastal environment.

The newly designated project zones include the Wangsan and Yongyu Zone in Jung-gu, and the Soijak Port and Moraeul-dong Zone in Ongjin-gun.






(News) Incheon Named Top-Rated Local Government in Food Poisoning Prevention Management


Incheon Metropolitan City has been selected as the top-rated local government in the 2025 Comprehensive Evaluation of Food Poisoning Prevention Management, conducted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety across 17 metropolitan and provincial governments nationwide.

Incheon received particularly high marks for its food poisoning incident management rate and source food identification management rate.

The city was also positively evaluated for establishing a rapid response system by immediately conducting joint epidemiological investigations with relevant agencies when suspected food poisoning cases occur.






(News) Incheon Office of Education’s “Sea School” Certified as UNESCO 2025 ESD Official Project


The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education announced that its program ‘Sea School: Education on Incheon’s Islands, Seas, and Coastal Wetlands’ has been certified as an official UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Project for 2025.

‘Sea School’ is Incheon’s signature ESD program, expanding learning spaces beyond classrooms to islands, seas, and coastal wetlands while offering practice-oriented educational activities.

The program was selected following a comprehensive review of five criteria—including relevance, originality, and inclusiveness—as well as its alignment with the core elements of ESD 2030.
