Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it has launched a public call to select leading redevelopment districts for aging planned cities, aimed at transforming older urban areas into future-oriented cities.

The call targets the Yeonsu·Seonhak District, Guwol District, Gyesan District, Galsan·Bupyeong·Bugae District, and Mansu Districts 1, 2, and 3.

The application process begins with an official notice on December 15, followed by an application period from May 26 to June 1, 2026. Final selections are scheduled to be announced in August 2026.




 


News) Users of Infant-Only “Incheon i-Sarang Dream Center” Surpass 340,000


Incheon Metropolitan City announced that annual users of the Incheon i-Sarang Dream Center, the nation’s first public shared childcare and parenting space exclusively for infants and toddlers, have surpassed 340,000 this year.

The number of users has grown rapidly each year, from 3,700 in its first year of operation in 2020 to a cumulative 48,000 registered members in 2025.

The center provides a space where preschool children under the age of seven and their caregivers can enjoy play-based activities and hands-on experiences together. It operates three sessions per day from Tuesday to Saturday and has been highly popular among families.




(News) Incheon Conducts Joint Inspections on Single-Use Items in Public Buildings … Disposable Cup Carry-in Rate Drops by the Largest Margin Nationwide


Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it conducted joint inspections on single-use item usage at 33 public buildings under the city’s jurisdiction from November 17 to 28, in cooperation with six environmental organizations.

Inspection results showed that the average disposable cup carry-in rate across public institutions stood at 9.59%, while the annual average, including inspections conducted in the first half of the year, was 7.57%.

A comparative analysis conducted by environmental groups across other cities and provinces found that Incheon recorded the largest nationwide reduction in disposable cup carry-in rates during the first half of the year.






(News) Incheon Assigns New Name “Eumgil” to Four Circular Walking Trails


Incheon Metropolitan City announced on December 15 that it has finalized new road names for four popular walking trails—located at Gyeyangsan Mountain, Cheonmasan Mountain, Hambongsan Mountain, and the Family Park—with a total length of 17.3 kilometers.

The newly designated names are Gyeyangsan Eumgil, Cheonmasan Eumgil, Hambongsan Eumgil, and Family Park Road.

The city expects that adopting a unified and familiar naming system will enhance location clarity, wayfinding convenience, and on-site usability for citizens.






(News) Incheon Sports Council Selects New and Renewed Designated Sports Clubs for 2025


The Incheon Sports Council announced that four sports clubs in the Incheon area were selected in the new designation and renewal categories under the 2025 Designated Sports Club Program, as announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 12th.

This selection officially recognizes the efforts of local sports clubs to promote community sports participation and enhance the public nature of sports club operations.

Designated sports clubs provide residents with professional coaching and systematic sports programs. Designation or renewal is determined every three years based on a comprehensive evaluation of performance, operational capacity, and contributions to the public interest.






(News) Incheon to Launch Food Security Program for Vulnerable Groups


Incheon Metropolitan City announced that starting in December, it will provide food and daily necessities to vulnerable residents experiencing economic hardship.

The initiative is part of the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Food Security Pilot Program, which is scheduled to transition into a full-scale program in May next year.

Under the program, eligible residents will receive food items and daily necessities worth 20,000 won per person, including instant noodles, ready-to-eat rice, and seasoned seaweed. Distribution will take place every Wednesday from 10 AM to noon on the first floor of the Incheon Social Welfare Center in Namdong-gu.
