Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority Reports Ganghwa Southern Area Plan to MOTIE Free Economic Zone Committee
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced that it reported the “Request for Designation of the Ganghwa Southern Area as a New District within the Incheon Free Economic Zone” to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s Free Economic Zone Committee yesterday afternoon (15th).
This report is a key step in the designation process, and the authority aims to receive final designation by the first half of 2026 after consultations with relevant ministries and reviews by an evaluation committee.
The Ganghwa Southern Area is assessed as a new global supply chain hub, as it can secure both large-scale industrial space and global logistics accessibility based on its proximity to Incheon International Airport.
Incheon City’s development plan for the Ganghwa Southern Area aims to foster advanced industries by linking national core infrastructure, including the airport, with the Incheon Free Economic Zone.
Incheon City Extends Toll Support for Yeongjong Bridge and Incheon Bridge by Three Years
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that a revised ordinance extending the validity period of the “Incheon Metropolitan City Ordinance on Toll Support for Airport Expressway and Incheon Bridge” by three years, and expanding eligibility to include individually leased long-term rental vehicles previously excluded, passed the city council plenary session yesterday (15th).
As the existing ordinance was set to expire on December 31, 2025, the city conducted policy research and actively reflected recent changes, including diversified vehicle purchasing methods and amendments to the Enforcement Decree of the Toll Road Act.
The main purpose of the ordinance revision is to substantially ease the financial burden of Yeongjong area residents using Incheon Bridge and the Airport Expressway, and to respond stably to changes in traffic conditions before and after the opening of the Third Incheon Coastal Bridge.

Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it received the Excellence Award as an Outstanding Cooperative Local Government at the “2025 3rd Companion Beach National Competition” in recognition of its contributions to marine environmental protection and the activation of the Companion Beach program.
The competition, hosted by the Korea Marine Environment Corporation, was held under the slogans “Creating a Clean Sea Together” and “A Sustainable Future” to share achievements of the Companion Beach initiative and commend outstanding cooperative local governments.
The “Companion Beach” program was introduced in 2020 with the aim of encouraging people to care for beaches with affection and responsibility, as they would for companion animals.
Incheon City Promotes Food Security Support Project for Vulnerable Groups
Incheon City announced that it will provide food and daily necessities to vulnerable groups facing livelihood difficulties starting in December.
This initiative follows the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s “Basic Food Security Pilot Project” and will be converted into a full-scale project from May next year.
The city plans to provide food and daily necessities worth 20,000 won per person, including ramen, instant rice, and seasoned seaweed, every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the first floor of the Incheon Social Welfare Center in Namdong-gu.

Dong-gu, Incheon to Recruit Students for the 1st Term of Dong-gu Women’s Center Courses in 2026
Dong-gu, Incheon announced that it will recruit students for the “2026 First-Term Dong-gu Women’s Center Courses,” which will operate as a three-month program starting January 2, 2026.
The first-term regular course program consists of a total of 26 courses, including certification programs such as interior design that have received positive feedback for leading to qualifications and employment, as well as cooking and craft programs including urban sketching and folk painting.

Gyeyang-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City received the Incheon Mayor’s Commendation for “Contributions to the Expansion of Renewable Energy” in 2025 in recognition of its efforts toward renewable energy expansion and carbon neutrality.
The commendation is awarded by Incheon City to institutions with outstanding performance in promoting renewable energy, and Gyeyang-gu received high evaluations for building the foundation for RE100 implementation, continuously promoting renewable energy convergence support projects, and expanding renewable energy in educational facilities through neighborhood energy-saving stations.
A district official stated, “We will continue to promote policies to expand renewable energy and achieve carbon neutrality.”
Ongjin-gun, Incheon to Recruit 98 University Students for 2026 Winter Part-Time Jobs
Ongjin-gun, Incheon announced that it will recruit a total of 98 university students for “2026 Winter University Student Part-Time Jobs,” allowing them to gain experience in administrative support and civil service assistance.
The winter part-time program will run for 17 days from January 7 to January 29 next year, with placements at the Ongjin-gun Office headquarters, Agricultural Technology Center, Public Health Center, and administrative offices of seven townships.
Applications for the university student part-time jobs will be accepted from the 17th to the 20th of this month through online submission on the Ongjin-gun website.
