Footage from 1908 showing Incheon’s port and urban landscape during the open-port era has been released.
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it has obtained archival video material capturing the cityscape and everyday life of Incheon during the early modern port period.
The film, which the city released today, is believed to have been recorded by a French national in early 1908. It was discovered last year by the Korean Film Archive within the holdings of “La Cinémathèque Française,” a private film archive in Paris, France.
The 6-minute 31-second video is analyzed to show scenes filmed around present-day Hang-dong 1-ga near the Centennial Monument for Korean Christianity, and the Hang-dong 4-ga area near the Incheon Association of Architectural Firms in Jung-gu, Incheon.
(News) Incheon Confirms Additional Station Between Songdo and Incheon City Hall on GTX-B Line
Incheon Metropolitan City announced that construction of an additional station on the Incheon section of the Metropolitan area’s Great Train Express (GTX) Line B, which is scheduled to open in 2031, has been confirmed.
According to the city, the feasibility review conducted by the Korea National Railway showed a benefit-cost ratio (B/C) of 1.03—exceeding the standard threshold of 1.0 required for large-scale investment—officially approving the project to proceed.
The feasibility study estimated that the added station would increase average daily ridership across the entire line by approximately 3,010 passengers.
(News) Naming of Incheon’s Third Bridge to Be Decided by National Geographic Naming Committee
The name of Incheon’s Third Bridge is now expected to be finalized by the National Geographical Names Committee.
Incheon’s Jung-gu announced plans to request a re-evaluation of the bridge’s official name from the National Geographical Names Committee under the National Geographic Information Institute of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
A Jung-gu official stated that official documents will soon be submitted to the committee and that the district intends to seek a rational and fair decision through the review.

Incheon’s Namdong-gu announced that it will operate a dedicated reception room for civil affairs inside the Namdong-gu office’s first-floor civil service center starting next year.
The facility was established to manage increasing in-person civil affairs demands in a more systematic manner and to protect staff from potential conflicts during the consultation process.
Namdong-gu expects the new reception room to both improve civil service satisfaction and enhance workplace safety for its employees.

Incheon’s Jung-gu announced that it will continue its “Heating Cost Support Program for Areas Without City Gas Supply” next year as part of its ongoing energy welfare initiative during the winter season.
The program aims to ease energy cost burdens for households that have not been able to benefit from city gas services due to a lack of economic feasibility and to create a safer residential energy environment.
Eligible recipients include multi-child households with two or more children under the age of 18, three-generation households, basic livelihood security recipients, and near-poverty households residing in areas of Yeongjong and Yongyu without city gas access.

Incheon’s Jung-gu announced that it will hold a “High School Guidance Session” at 11 AM on December 27 at the Jung-gu Youth Center for local students and parents.
As a part of the district’s Career and College Pathway Academy initiative, the session aims to reduce uncertainty among students and parents amid changing entrance requirements, while helping them establish strategic academic plans with practical information.
