Incheon To Strengthen Global Competitiveness Through Creative Design Policy

Incheon Metropolitan City will promote a “Creative Design” policy this year. The policy aims to improve citizens’ quality of life and strengthen a sustainable urban foundation based on the public design infrastructure and project capacity it has accumulated. Following the establishment of a Public Design Center last year, the city has systematically built its foundation as a creative design city through initiatives such as a UNESCO Creative City strategy study, Creative X Design Week, and the Incheon Good Design Certification, which recorded the highest number of applications to date. The 2026 Incheon-style Creative Design policy integrates key global values adopted by leading cities and corporations, such as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ESG-based private cooperation, and Creating Shared Value (CSV), to deliver design outcomes more tangibly felt by citizens. At its core is the phased implementation of a 3S strategy combining policy and institutional sustainability, social value realization, and scalability for commercialization and expansion.
