IFEZ Joins EU Urban Cooperation Project To Support AI Startup Growth


The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority will participate in the EU-led International Urban and Regional Cooperation (IURC) program to support technology demonstrations by AI startups from Korea and abroad. The cooperation project involves four global cities: Barcelona in Spain, Hamburg in Germany, Osaka in Japan, and Kaohsiung in Taiwan. Ten startups from the Incheon area plan to share city safety-related data with startups from these cities while carrying out AI technology demonstrations, joint performance evaluations, and participation in global competition programs.





Incheon’s Emergency Vehicle System To Expand Across Greater Seoul Area


Incheon’s emergency vehicle priority signal system will be expanded across the Greater Seoul area with support from the central government. The city announced that it has been selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT’s 2026 Smart Village Adoption & Expansion Project and will move forward with an upgrade of the service, which was first introduced in 2023. The project will link real-time emergency vehicle location data between Incheon and the Gyeonggi Transportation Information Center, allowing emergency vehicles traveling between the two regions to receive the same priority signal service regardless of administrative boundaries. The city is currently completing administrative procedures required to provide the service, including an information and communications security review by the National Intelligence Service, and plans to launch the service in March next year.





Incheon Expands Childcare Fee Support To Ease Financial Burden On Parents


In efforts to improve operating conditions at childcare centers and ease the financial burden on parents, Incheon Metropolitan City will adjust childcare fees and the maximum limit for additional expenses while expanding free childcare support. The city made the decision to increase the maximum collection limit at childcare centers after a review by the Local Childcare Policy Committee’s review, and plans to expand support for necessary expenses. Incheon’s childcare fee collection limit for 2026 is the highest among metropolitan cities nationwide and the second-highest in the Greater Metropolitan Area after Seoul.





Incheon Moves To Become Northeast Asia Cruise Hub


Incheon Metropolitan City’s Cruise Industry Development Committee has received policy advice from experts to transform the city into a Northeast Asian cruise hub. The committee meeting invited academics, related organizations, and experts to discuss the 2nd Five-Year Plan for Fostering Incheon’s Cruise Industry (2026–2030) and the 2026 Incheon Cruise Industry Revitalization Plan. As cruise ship arrivals at Incheon Port are rapidly increasing amid recent changes in global conditions, participants discussed mid- and long-term strategies to upgrade the city into a regional cruise hub. The strategies include strengthening tourism information services for cruise passengers in cooperation with the Incheon Tourism Organization and expanding free shuttle bus services linking the cruise terminal with major attractions such as Sangsang Platform and Songdo, in collaboration with the Incheon Port Authority and the Korea Tourism Organization.





Incheon Encourages Small Business Enrollment In Yellow Umbrella Mutual Aid Fund


Incheon Metropolitan City has allocated a budget of 2 billion won to support incentives for enrollment in the Yellow Umbrella Mutual Aid Fund. The fund subscription incentive program aims to help stabilize the management of small businesses and strengthen the social safety net. It will encourage small enterprises and small business owners to join the mutual fund scheme so they can prepare for livelihood risks caused by business closure, old age, or death. Eligible applicants are small business owners with annual sales of 300 million won or less who operate businesses in Incheon and newly joined the Yellow Umbrella Mutual Fund after January 1, 2019.
