Incheon to Host World Cup Watch Parties 


Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Tourism Organization say they will host public viewing events called “Sangsang Cheer Squad” for South Korea’s World Cup matches on June 19 and June 25 at Jung-gu’s Sangsang Platform. 

South Korea is scheduled to face Mexico on June 19 and South Africa on June 25 in group-stage matches, both kicking off at 10 a.m. 

Large screens and sound systems will be installed at the venue, and cheering items such as clappers will be provided to spectators. 

The Incheon Transit Corporation will also host watch parties at ART-RO INCHEON, a cultural space located on the basement level of Incheon City Hall Station, where a 10-meter-by-3-meter media wall will broadcast both matches live.




Safety Inspections to be Conducted on 227 Regional Buses 


Safety inspections will be carried out on 227 regional buses operating in the Seoul metropolitan area ahead of the summer season. 

The Metropolitan Transport Commission under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport says a joint safety inspection campaign will run from Monday through July 2. 

The inspections are intended to enhance passenger safety during a season often marked by extreme heat, heavy rainfall, and typhoons. 

The commission will conduct the inspections in cooperation with Gyeonggi Province, the Incheon Metropolitan Government, local municipalities, and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority.




Geomdan Prehistory Museum to Offer Online Summer Program 


Incheon’s Geomdan Prehistory Museum will run an online educational program titled “Wise Museum Kit” from July 6 to 24 during the summer vacation period. 

The program is designed to allow families to participate in museum learning activities anytime and anywhere without the limitations of time or location. 

Participants can enhance their learning experience by exploring the museum’s online exhibition hall through the Incheon City Museum website. 

Each participating household will receive a free activity package by mail, including comb-pattern pottery and Eight-Bell Ornament block kits, along with educational worksheets.

Using QR codes, participants will be able to tour online exhibitions, watch prehistoric-themed animations, and assemble artifacts themselves.






Incheon Women’s Welfare Center Recruits Students for Social Education Courses


The Incheon Women’s Welfare Center will begin accepting applications on June 22 for its third-term social education courses of 2026. 

The program will run from July 6 through September 26 and offer 91 courses in areas such as professional skills development, entrepreneurship, culture, health, humanities, short-term special lectures, and Korean-language education. A total of 1,673 participants will be recruited. 

The courses are designed to provide both practical life skills and professional certification opportunities while reflecting the diverse interests of local residents. 

Applications are open to all Incheon residents aged 18 and older, with enrollment divided into priority and general admission categories.




Incheon Expands Cultural Tour Guide Service to Cheongna Haneul Bridge


Incheon Metropolitan City is expanding the operation of its cultural tourism commentator program. 

Beginning this month, guided interpretation services will also be offered at Cheongna Haneul Bridge, in addition to major tourist attractions such as the Open Port Area and the Wolmi Sea Train. 

A city official noted that guided tours were introduced at Songdo History and Culture Park and Customs History Park in April, adding that the scheduled tours at Songdo History and Culture Park, which do not require reservations, have received positive feedback from visitors. 

The service is available free of charge through both scheduled tours and advance reservations




Lovebug Season Returns, Activities Expected to Peak in June 24 


This year’s main lovebug season is expected to run from June 15 through June 29 according to the National Institute of Forest Science. 

The institute says the insects are expected to be the most active on June 24. 

Although lovebugs do not bite humans or spread disease and are considered beneficial insects, they often appear in large swarms and cling to building walls, windows, and vehicles, causing discomfort for many residents.
